How do Live Events work?
Schedule a live event from your 3rd party broadcast tool. Adjust details on LinkedIn.com.
Promote with Event Ad. Go live and continue to maximize reach.
Step-by-step overview
1 Schedule the live event in your 3rd party broadcast tool (Restream, Streamyard, Switcher,
Socialive ONLY) at least 2 weeks in advance for maximum reach. Use existing directions
to schedule a live stream for that tool.
2 Go to the admin view of your Page or Activity section of your Profile on LinkedIn. Find
the new scheduled live event post there. Edit and add details such as speakers and
description to attract the right attendees.
3 Invite attendees as soon as your event is set up to kickstart discovery on LinkedIn.
4 If you are hosting from a Page, consider copy/pasting the event URL into an Event
Ad campaign in Campaign Manager. Promote the URL anywhere on and off
LinkedIn to drive registration.
5 Go live from the same 3rd party tool you scheduled from (we’ll notify all attendees
and a subset of your followers).
6 After the event, share the replay link anywhere on and off LinkedIn to maximize reach.
The post also gathers views over time on your feed.

How to set up Live Events
Here’s a checklist of everything that you will need to get started.
Are you hosting from a Page or a Profile?
Only super or content poster Page admins can create and manage Live Events on
behalf of the Page. Only you can create and manage Live Events for your profile.
Do you have access to LinkedIn Live?
If not, you can apply for access to stream from your Page or Profile.
Do you have an account with one of our preferred streaming partners?
You can use Streamyard, Restream, Socialive, or Switcher to schedule your Live
Events in advance.
Do you have the event details confirmed?
Setup will be much more seamless if you have all details on hand prior to
creating. You’ll need a date, time, title, description, and speakers.
Do you have a cover image for the live event?
Each live event is required to have one hero image which is also used a
thumbnail. Recommended aspect ratio is 16:9.

notifications 7 days before, 3 days
before, 15 minutes before the event,

During the event, for those who did
not hit “Attend” in advance, the live
event content will still be available
to view and engage.

can be accessed and replayed by any
member on LinkedIn (whether or not they
marked themselves as “Attending”), giving
your content long term reach and discovery.
Helpful tips to keep in mind
Increase opt-in attendance with Event Ad, inviting connections, and
promoting the link on and off LinkedIn.
Add speakers on the event page after creating it in the 3rd party tool
to take advantage of their networks.
Make sure to craft a very compelling post copy, as that will kick off
distribution of your event on the feed. Use hashtags!
Try to schedule your live event two weeks to one month in advance to
maximize opted-in attendance.
Don’t stop promoting the event and inviting people to it in the weeks
leading up to show time!
