Using OneDrive

 You will receive an email to accept invitation to access a folder shared


with you via OneDrive

 You will upload each of your GIS443 assignments (both, in-class and
homework) to the “GIS443YourSection_YourLastName” folder

 A demonstration on how to upload your assignments will be done in


class during the first week

Getting started with ArcGIS 10.3.x
 To access the data that is used to build maps and conduct analysis you must access it through
ArcCatalog and connect to the folder that holds the data

 Always check the “Make relative paths the default option” box. This must be done EACH time you
use the computer in the computer lab. Take note of page 7 in required textbook. There are two
areas that must be checked:

 File > Map Document Properties

 Customize > ArcMap Options > General Tab

 For all assignments create a new file geodatabase

 In the MyAssignments folder that you are currently working in, right click and click on new,
then click on file geodatabase

 Give that folder an appropriate name

 Within that folder which is now empty, copy and paste the data files that you are using for
your assignment (via ArcCatalog)

 Ensure that when you are dragging the layer into the table of contents you take it from the
folder that you are currently working in
