I learned many new things in our webinar, which broadened my understanding of
learning modalities which is the major components of the webinar on September 03.
2021. According to the speaker, Educational delivery modes in schools may vary,
depending on COVID-19 constraints and local and student context. Face-to-face,
distant learning, modular distance learning, online distance learning, television/radio-
based instruction, blended learning, homeschooling, and assessment are examples of
learning modalities. In face-to-face, it allows for active participation, instant feedback,
and socio-emotional growth of kids when both students and the teacher are physically
present in the classroom. In addition to this, learners gain from more interaction with
their peers. Distance learning refers to a learning delivery modality where learning takes
place between the teacher and the learners who are geographically remote from each
other during instruction. Another type of learning modality is modular distance learning,
which entails individualized instruction and self-learning modules by learners. Because
most of the students in the public schools have poor internet connections and some do
not have gadgets, it is also a popular learning mode in the Philippines. Moreover, in
modular distance learning, the teacher is responsible for keeping track of the students'
progress. Learners can contact the teacher via email, phone, text message, or instant
messaging, among other methods. If at all practicable, the teacher will make home visits
to students who require remediation or support. Printed Modules will be distributed to
children, parents, and guardians by instructors or local government officials. Because
education is no longer confined to the classroom, parents have become educators'
collaborators. As home facilitators, parents play a critical role. In modular learning, their
primary function is to connect with the child and guide them. Moreover, in online
distance learning, the instructor is the facilitator in which learners are geographically
separated during teaching but are encouraged to actively participate through various
technologies accessed through the internet. Also, Students are required to sit in front of
a computer for several hours each day. Video lectures and brief quizzes are included in
the online lessons, or "modules." The children complete these modules individually, and
examinations are used to determine whether they are ready to move on to the next
session. Moreover, TV/radio-based Instruction utilizes SLMs converted to video lessons
for Television-Based Instruction and SLMs converted to radio scripts for Radio-Based
Instruction. In Blended learning, it combines face-to-face with any or a mix of online
distance learning. Blended learning mixes face-to-face instruction with one or more
online distant learning options. For another difference in learning, homeschooling offers
students a quality primary education provided by qualified parents, guardians, or tutors
who have received relevant training in a home-based setting.
The webinar means a lot to me, and as a learner, it helps me understand the many
learning modalities and the one I choose.
