Module 2- Activity 3 9548/ Business Ethics

1. Since this pandemic, you have been staying at home and might have too much
time in social media or mainstream media (television, radio). Give at least two (2)
examples of ads that qualify to the following. (You may not mention the product
name, just a short narrative of how the ad went.)

a. Using of Weasel Words

 A toothpaste saying helps prevent cavities away.

 A anti-bacterial soap saying helps to fight bacteria away

b. Exaggeration

 Some shampoo product, shows a long, bouncy and shiny hair in an exaggerated
way.
 Some noodles advertisement, shows a lot of pork chunks and other tasty
recados, but when you buy a pack and open it, you won't find any of those hearty
yummies.

c. Psychological Appeals

 A famous soda drink company in which encourage customers to share happy

memories and experiences that make them happy that summer.
 A liquor which show daring clothes and two piece.

d. Ads Directed to Children

 Fast food chain which has famous fried chicken shows a birthday party held in
their own restaurant.
 Fast food chain which you can get toy when you buy a value meal.

2. Social media has been a very effective platform in advertising. I know for a fact
that all of us are engaged to it. It has been a breeding ground for fake news,
gossip, etc. If you are an advertiser, what do you think is your responsibility in
using this platform in reaching out to your potential customers?

I will respond to any of my customers concern, I will be reaching them through

face to face, phone or their social media accounts, I will make sure that I am always
active on my social media accounts and I will create a survey so that I can improve or
do better about my shortcoming and also this will help me cater all of my customers
want.

3. An ad that is “too honest” does not make it a successful ad. What does that
mean?

Being too honest may drive potential customers to a competitors and of course,
you can’t get higher sales. They tend to tell the “partial truth” about their products to
maximize profits and increase revenue. For example, soda drink advertisement you
won’t hear anything that this drink contain a lot of sugar, they will only reveal the
seemingly appealing characteristics of the product.

4. YouTube vloggers have been very active in the advertising industry. What
would be your primary considerations in choosing a vlogger to promote your
product?

My primary consideration in choosing a vlogger to promote my product he/she

must have clean image to the public because if the vlogger you chose has some issues,
of course it can affect the sales of my product. Aside from having clean image, my other
basis, for instance my product is soap I would choose a vlogger who has fair skin and a
beautiful face.
