MATERIAL USED FOR CONSTRUCTION
AGGREGATES
Aggregates are broken pieces of stones which are used to preparation of concrete
mixture.
There are two types of aggregates:
1.Coarse Aggregates.
2.fine Aggregates.
Fine aggregates are also used in plastering.
We used 20 mm and less than 20 mm size aggregates at the work site.
CEMENT
Cement is known as a binding material in construction works.
There are 3 grades which are mostly used in construction works.
1.33 grade
2.43 grade
3.53 grade
We used 43 grade of opc of jk Lakshmi cement, which is useful in construction of
homes, plastering, brick work, foundation and finishing works.

REINFORCEMENT
We used fe250 steel reinforcement of size 25 mm, 16 mm, 10mm in r.c.c.
structures like column, beams, and roofing.
For columns 20 mm, 16 mm reinforcement is used and 8 mm reinforcement is
used as shear reinforcement.
For beams 25 mm reinforcement is used as main reinforcement and 10 mm as
shear reinforcement.
In roofing 10 mm@6” c/c spacing reinforcement is provided as main
reinforcement and 8mm@6” c/c spacing.

COLUMN CONSTRUCTION
In column reinforcement of steel fe415 HYSD grade is used with M20 grade of
concrete.
Nominal cover provided in column was 1.5”.
Each column have 8bars of reinforcement in which 4bars of 20 mm dia and 4 bars of
16 mm dia. are provided.
8mm shear reinforcement at spacing 6” c/c is provided.

MORTAR:
Mortar is paste of cement and sand in different ratio. At work site we used 1:6 ratio
(cement : sand) in brick masonary work and plastering.
BOND IN MASONARY:
Stretcher bond:
Stretcher bond is created when laid with only their stretcher showing overlapping
midway with the courses of bricks below and above. For single brick masonry
stetcher bond was used at the site
Flemish bond:
Flemish bond created by laying alternate headers and stretchers in a single course and
the next course of brick is laid such that header lies in the middle of the stretcher in
the course below.

SCAFOLDING
It is a temporary structure on the outside of a building, made of wooden planks and
poles, used by workmen while building, repairing or cleaning the building.

CENTERING A ND STAGING
Centering is a formwork to support the horizontal structure elements. We used
wooden staging at the site as shown in figure.

REINFORCEMENT PLACING
In slab construction we used fe415 HYSD steel reinforcement bars.
10 mm steel reinforcement bars are provided as main reinforcement at 6” spacing.
8 mm steel reinforcement bars are provided with 6” spacing as distributary or
secondary reinforcement
