Proposal

To: Mr. Albertson, head teacher

From: , student

Subject: Science and Technology week

Date: 3rd November

Introduction

As requested, I am submitting this proposal in order to make suggestions for the activities that
would benefit the students in the upcoming Science and Technology week.

Science competitions

To begin with, students are lacking the desire to discover, to cooperate. They are relying more
and more on themselves. As a result, I would recommend to organize a science competition with teams
made of random picked participants. This way, students will get a grasp of how complex and fun science
and technology can be. Furthermore, they will have to be on the same wavelength with their
teammates, in order to win the competition. This should remind them that cooperation is key.

Presentations from professionals

Another suggestion would be to have presentations from professionals. It is possible that some
students do not see the purpose or the fun side of science. Consequently, I propose to invite
professionals into classrooms to put subjects in context. They would highlight the exciting side of science
by performing ‘shows’ or experiments.

Science workplaces

Finally, I believe that it would be beneficial to make visits to science workplaces. The students
would shadow professionals for a day and question them about their job. Maybe a part of the students
are planning on working in this field. If they visit a science workplace, they will get even more
passionate. Also, they will get a better understanding of what this profession consists of.

Conclusion

In summary, I suggest the activities for the Science and Technology week to consist in organizing
science competitions, getting presentations from professionals and visiting science workplaces. I do
hope that the plan presented in this proposal is met with your approval.
