KIDS THREE FINAL EXAM Paper 1

Time allowed: 1 hour
A) Read the story: “The Lonely Elephant”

The elephant in the forest feels lonely and sad, he wants to make friends. One day he
sees a monkey on a tree. “Do you want to be my friend?” asks the elephant.
“You are too big. You can’t climb trees like me.” answers the monkey.
Next, the elephant meets a rabbit. “Do you want to be my friend?” asks the elephant. But the
rabbit says: “You are too big to play in my house!”.
Then, the elephant meets a frog. “Do you want to be my friend?” he asks.
“How? You are too big to jump like me.” the frog answers.
The next day, the elephant sees all the animals in the forest running for their lives. “What’s the
matter?” he asks.
“There is a tiger in the forest. He’s trying to eat us all!” answers the monkey.
The animals all run away to hide but the elephant has an idea. He walks up to the tiger and says,
“Please, Mr. Tiger, don't eat up these poor animals.”
“Why do you care? It’s not your problem!” shouts the tiger.
The elephant thinks, “I have to help my friends!”. He jumps against the floor and he makes a lot
of noise. Finally, the tiger is very scared and runs away. All the animals are very happy and thank
the elephant. They all say, “You are perfect to be our friend.”
