Recommendation
Travel is a vital part of life and is the most effective way to learn about new
cultures and people. Understanding the motivations for solo travel is critical for
generating successful advertising, public relations, and marketing communications for
this traveler niche, especially as solo travel becomes more common in the
Philippines. Natural catastrophes, conflicts, terrorism, and economic crises are the
most dangerous to the tourism business. Health measures and communication
methods that have led in the closure of tourism-related enterprises include homestay
campaigns, lockdowns, travel bans, quarantine, and social distance. The COVID-19
has posed a threat to existing economic and tourism systems, resulting in a global
recession and limiting the ability of travelers to travel during a pandemic.
Furthermore, the COVID-19 effect will linger for some years. While society can
recover quickly from financial disruptions such as worldwide travel and tourism, the
sociological and emotional repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic will be more
stable. Finally, future research might look into the relationship between motives and
restrictions, particularly for those most commonly motivated to travel solo.
Based on the findings and conclusion drawn by the researchers, the following
are the recommendation:
For Tourism and Hospitality Industry:
1. In the face of serious economic, political, and health issues, the tourism and
hospitality industry should show resilience.. However, COVID-19's unparalleled
vulnerabilities may reveal the crisis is unique and will result in long-term
structural changes in the industry.
2. All main tourism and hospitality industry players (airports, airlines,
transportation, hotels, destinations, nature and theme parks) must prepare for the
new reality more than before. They should create a queueless, contactless, and
sanitized end-to-end travel experience that is automated as much as feasible, all
stakeholders should emphasize health and safety commitments.
3. The industry could take advantage of technology, as it will will continue to play
an important role in revitalizing travel; electronic IDs, passports, boarding tickets,
robot cleaners, and medical screening should all be used to reduce direct contact
between travelers and the surface.
For Government (Local and National):
1. Government should recognize the risk-seeking information behavior in a variety of
tourism and travel environments is critical for developing marketing strategies that
adjust travel intentions.
2. Government must emphasize safety and health precautions, as well as any tourism
activities that help tourists feel safer in their trip places and lower their sense of
danger.
3. The impact of the Covid-19 outbreak should be assessed by the local and national
government. If the Covid-19 epidemic does not spread swiftly over the world, it will
have more psychological, societal, and financial consequences.
For Filipino Solo Traveler:
1. Risk is an inextricable aspect of the decision-making process when it comes to
travel. Travelers could motivate themselves to gather more information in order to
manage risk and uncertainty.
2. Filipino Solo Traveler should promote revitalization of tourism and hospitality
industry by engagement and connection with local culture.
3. Solo traveler must possess awareness of the policy and protocols as to COVID-19.
They must consider not just their motivation to travel, but the essentials to travel.
For Future Researchers:
1. Future studies should examine how solo travelers from social and cultural
backgrounds use communication channels to get risk information regarding COVID-
19 and safety travel protocols, and how they use it to deciding to travel solo.
2. Researchers could look into the relationship of motivations and constraints,
especially for people who are most likely to travel solo.
3. Researchers could look into the gap that the COVID-19 could leave in the tourism
and hospitality industry, which is linked to travel, particularly solo travel.
