Community ‘Aska Question Write a Blog Post Technical Articles Follow i) Like 3 RSS Feed Yogesh Agarwal January 30,2020 | 2 minute read SAP EWM - Usage of Quantity Classification in Putaway AS yb7 ©4144 Dear All | would like to present a solution for business requirement below: “Putaway different sized handling units in different storage types” Ihave achieved this using Quantity Classification of SAP EWM Purpose: The purpose of my blog post is to understand how Quantity Classification in SAP EWM works by giving an example of complex putaway scenario. ‘Scenario Overview & Details: We have 2 kinds of packaging for a raw material: less than 10 EA of material 5006356 (raw material) goes in a package with material code 50066358 If the qty. is 10 or more, it can be fitted in a bigger HU, with material code 50066357. (CONFIGURATION) 0 Po (ool Ho Puanay rule 0 = PL (eot no Panay Hale In Packspec, | mentioned that HU with material 50066357 can store upto 20 EA of material 50066356 and HU with material 50066358 can store upto 9 EA of material 50066356. (MASTER DATA) As seen, the system diverts the package in OPEN storage area, Case 2) Inbound Qty. = 25 EA As seen, the system creates 2 HU - one with 2KG (20EA) and another with SEA, placing them respectively in HRO1 and OPEN storage types. Summary: Thus, we saw with the usage of Quantity Classification in SAP EWM, the system can be designed to map practical requirement of placing different sized boxes/pallets in different storage types they can fi The same technique can be deployed to do quantity specific picking from different storage types. Have you tested whether it works also without packspec and logical conditions? Based on what you write | assume the same strategy should also work based on the customizing for the UOM attributes only. Just cusious why you set up customizing + packspec. Regards, Hendrik. Like1 | Share sai karthik August 19, 2020 at 5:17 pm As said by Hendrik, No need of Pack spec and Logical conditions. -> Just assign the Qty classfication to UOM attributes at warehouse level -> Mantain the material master with other UOM'’S in MARM Tab (in Additional data) -> Maintain the STSS with Qty Classification and link to the corresponding to storage type and system will propose the correct storage type.
