Script 2

1) Students with hearing loss have varying abilities to detect sounds depending on factors that help or hinder hearing. 2) Those with mild hearing loss may benefit from hearing aids or technology, while those with more severe loss rely on visuals like sign language. 3) Even those who can hear some sounds may be taught to speak, as not all deaf individuals are mute.

So iyong mga bata po meorn silang kanya kanyang hearing abilities and hindi rin po pare pareho yung

level of clarity ng mga nariinig nilang sounds depending on the factors na nakakapaboost or sagabal para
madetect nila iyong tunog.
mas Malaki po iyong chance niya na magamit yung residual hearing niya through use of hearing aids or
channels to pick up the sound correctly, like what’s in the slide, they rely on visuals or symbols para
makipagcommunicate just like by using sign language.
speech and yung dahilan kung bakit iyong ibang deaf ay hindi nakakapagsalita is because their hearing
loss prevented them from learning spoken language. Deafness usually has little effect on the
vocal chords, and very few deaf people are truly mute.

• No difficulty understanding speech in quiet settings, but noisy environments pose problems to
learning.

• May benefit from favorable seating and sound field amplification

yung sound and walang hindrances apra madetect ng inner ear iyong tunog by means of it,
maayos iyong sounds because of the difficulty to recognize the words being spoken. Soundfield
systems and CADS aim to evenly distribute the sound of the teacher’s voice, around the
room, by means of a microphone and a speaker or speakers, so that all pupils can hear the
teacher clearly. Research has shown that the use of soundfield systems can improve
concentration of pupils, improve academic performance, keep noise levels down, improve
behaviour, and especially benefit those with specific learning needs or sensory impairment.
Soundfield amplification systems are devices that amplify the teacher's voice in the
classroom. The teacher's voice is able to be heard more easily over the background noise.
Soundfield systems benefit all children in the classroom, including children with a hearing
loss.

• Can understand face-to-face conversation with little difficulty

• Misses much of classroom discussion-particularly when the speaker cannot be seen clearly or
several students are speaking at once

• May have some classmates who are unaware she has a hearing loss

• Benefits from a hearing aid

• Most benefit from speech and language assistance from a speech-language pathologist

So dito po, nagagamit naman nung bata iyong basics of speech and communication development
since naiinitnidhina niya iyong mga face to face conversations although may slight difficulties
nga lang minsan in interpreting the words for his or her response.
nahihirapan siyang humabol sa classroom instruction especially if mas malakas iyong
kaya niya pa namang maging effective communicator.listerner sa regular classroom because
Students
with mild hearing condition benefit from speech language assistants A speech-language
pathologist, also known as a speech therapist, is a health professional who diagnoses and
treats communication and swallowing problems. They work with both children and adults in
clinics, schools, and hospitals.

What Does a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Do?

A speech-language pathologist has many responsibilities. Typically, they evaluate a person’s
communication or swallowing abilities, diagnose underlying problems, develop a personal
treatment plan, provide therapy, and maintain records to track a person’s progress in terms of
speech.

• Without hearing aid can hear conversational speech only if it is near, loud, and clear .

• Finds it extremely difficult to follow group discussions

• Full-time amplification is necessary

• Speech noticeably impaired but intelligible .

• Many benefit from time in a special class where intensive instruction in language and
communication can be provided.

They have trouble in following group discussions kasi po
iyong napoproduce which will make noise. Full time amplification is necessary kasi mas
Next,
he has a speech impairment is a condition in which the ability to produce speech sounds
that are necessary to communicate with others is impaired. Speech impairments can be
mild, such as occasionally mispronouncing a couple of words, to severe, such as not
being able to produce speech sounds at all. Articulation disorders are characterized by
the distortion or absence of speech sounds. An example of an articulation disorder is
trouble pronouncing blended sounds, such as 'sp.' A child who has trouble with this may
incorrectly pronounce 'spaghetti' as 'thaghetti.' Fluency disorders, also known
as disfluency, are characterized by an interruption or break in the normal flow of
speech, such as stuttering. Another example is the false start, which is when you say
something, but stop in the middle of your sentence and restart with a new idea, for
example, 'I really liked, it is so cold outside.'

Voice disorders are characterized by impairments in the voice, including loudness, vocal

quality, and pitch. For example, throat cancer can decrease the quality and pitch of your voice
and make it difficult for others to understand you. Meron pong speech impairment pero
intelligible or Speech intelligibility refers to how well someone can be understood when
they’re speaking. The factors that determine someone’s clarity include knowing what
sounds to make and how to pronounce them, the rhythm (also known as prosody), the
volume, staying on topic, formulating syntax, and more. They benefit naman po in
intensive class intructions with focus on language and communication kasi these two
are also in need of improvement para makapagadjust iyong bata.

• Can hear voices only if they are very loud and 1 foot or less from her ear

• Wears a hearing aid, but it is unclear how much it helps

• Can hear loud sounds such as a slamming door, vacuum cleaner, and airplane
flying overhead.

• May distinguish most vowel sounds but few if any consonants

• Communicates by speech and sign .

• May split school day between a special class and a general education classroom
with an educational interpreter

Dito naman po, mas madali po nilang madtermine iyong vowel sounds like a e i o and u kasi po
consonants kasi mas tricky or nakakalito iyong lip and tongue positions, or the whole mouth
movement para bigkasin iyong consonants tulad ng letter q and w. They communicate through
the means of speech and sign with the assistance of course of special education teachers and
they split up school day between special class and general educational classroom. So kung
classroom or simply, special education sa general education?

• Cannot hear conversational speech

• Hearing aid enables awareness of certain very loud sounds, such as a fire alarm or a bass
drum

• Vision is primary modality for learning

So since profound na or sobrang taas na ng level of ehairng loss ng isang bata, hindi na siya makarinig
totally ng conversational speech and reliable na alng sa part niya iyong paggamit ng sigsn and pagging
observant sa mga gestures or expressions, symbols and movements to understand and communicate.
nadedetect like iyon nga po tunog ng fire alarm or bass drum.

• American Sign Language likely to be first language and principal means of communication

• Hasn’t developed intelligible speech

• Most require full-time program special education program for students who are deaf

So dito pooo the principal means of communication is through theASL or American Sign
alanguage which we will further discuss sa next discussion because the child hasn’t developed
intelligible speech or hindi na comprehensive and understandable iyong way of speaking niya
kasi may speech impairments siya and hindi rin accurate masyado iyong response niya or
pagstructure niya ng mga sentences in speeking. This is the reason kung bakit nireerquire iyong
full time program or special education program sa mga deaf students to offer services na mas
pagiigihang imaximize iyong skills ng deaf and hard of hearing students para rin mas
matulungan sila for their everyday living to be independent, confident and also kasama na rin po
The Council was created in 2011 following a dialogue with the Department of Education and various Deaf and
hearing civil society stakeholders, at the facilitation of two Congressmen from the Philippine House of
Representatives [12]. The dialogue was intended to highlight the many concerns regarding the quality of education
of deaf learners at the primary and secondary levels of the public school system. The Council has also initiated
discussions with the Early Childhood Care and Development Council for the use of Filipino Sign Language as
mandated by law for community daycare centers.
The Council is made up of four Deaf leaders of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf, and three hearing bilinguals
from the national state university, a private university, and a research NGO for deaf advocacy. So dito po, limilikom
ng mga funds and nakikipagcooperate din iyong iba’t ibang organizations mapamaliit man o Malaki para
maitaguyod iyong proper education advocacy na kailangan ng mga deaf and hard of eharing students kasama na rin
po iyong mga equipments, resources, and other community services na kayang ioffer.
