1. STOCK (INVENTORY, UPDATES REPAIR AND CONDEMNATION)
Monthly inventory of lab items and equipments
Maintain lab utility register
Update your lab (purchase )
Maintain CSSD register
Maintain laundry book
Send for repair if in case of damage
If not repairable send for condemnation
All equipment should be in good working condition at all times.
New equipment should be calibrated and validated before routine use
Periodic performance check/calibration check for all equipment should be done
using reference standard/reference material.
The reagents, chemicals and consumables should be stored under appropriate
environmental conditions.
2. LAB UTILIZATION PROTOCOL FOR STUDENTS/STAFFS :

General Safety Measures
• Documentation of Laboratory Safety Policies and Procedures.
• All laboratory personnel should be aware about the laboratory safety policies and procedures
and follow these at all times.
List of hazardous materials used in the laboratory should be prepared. All hazardous
materials should be accounted for on a continuous basis.
• Laboratory personnel should follow safe hygienic practices which include hand washing,
wearing protective clothing, gloves, eye protection etc.
• Biohazard symbol should be used on all container/equipment containing bio-hazardous
material.
• Destruction/disposal of hazardous material should be authorized, supervised and handled
according to standard procedures.
• Periodic checking of all safety equipment and accessories should be ensured.
ISSUING OF ARTICLES/EQUIPMENTS
Each laboratory should prepare an exhaustive list of equipment and consumables required and
available for general functioning of the laboratory
Laboratory equipment should be of adequate capacity to meet work load requirement
Permission should be obtained from lab in-charge and to be signed in issue register with proper
date and name of things issued from lab.
Return equipment on the established return date in the same condition as received.
Report any damage to or problems with the equipment upon its return.
