ABSTRACT:
iOS is Apple’s mobile operating system developed originally for the iPhone, and later
deployed on the iPod as well. It is derived from Mac OS X, with which it shares the
Darwin foundation, and is therefore a Unix-like operating system, by nature. In iOS,
there are four abstract layers: the core OS layer, the core services layer, the media
layer, and the cocoa touch layers. The operating system uses roughly 800 megabytes
of the device’s storage.
Android is a software stack for mobile devices that include an operating system,
middleware and the key applications. It can be considered as a software platform as
well as an operating system for mobile devices based on the Linux operating system
and developed by Google and the open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to
write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google- developed Java
libraries.
Android architecture consists of key applications, application framework, core
libraries, android runtime and a Linux kernel. Main features of android are which
have integrated browser, SQLite for data storage, support for common audio, video
formats and it has GSM, EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity etc.
It consists of four important parts. They are Activity, intent receiver, services and
content provider. There are some application development tools like Eclipse for the
android phones. Google also develop emulator of android phone. Many versions of
android operating system are available like gingerbread, honeycomb, Froyo etc. The
latest one is “ Jelly Bean” i.e, Android 4.1. The development of android made a boom
in the mobile technology field.
OBJECTIVES OF ANDROID :
- Android delivers a complete set of software for mobile devices: an operating
system, middleware and key mobile applications.
- It was built from the group-up to enable developers to create compelling
mobile applications that take full advantage of all a handset has to offer.
- Breaking down application boundaries: android breaks down barriers to
building new and innovative applications.
- Fast and easy Application development: android provides access to a wide
range of useful libraries and tools that can be used to build rich applications.
OBJECTIVES OF iOS :
- iOS is derived from Mac OS X, with which it shares the Darwin foundation,
and is therefore a unix-like operating system by nature.
- Moving to the upper layers, more advanced technologies are used as a
interfaces based on a mixture of C and objective –C.
- There are all together four layers which helps in giving you choices.
- The software helps you to develop an applications that run on iPhone or iPod
touch using the included iPhone simulator, which runs iOS.
*HOW MUCH SECURE ARE THEY?
- Traditional access control such as passwords and screen locking to protect the
device itself.
- Isolation- limiting a process ability to access sensitive data or system resources
from another process.
- permission based access control, granting each application a set of permissions
that limits its access to specified device data system.
-limited hardware access
CONCLUSION:
Android has been criticized for not being all open sources software despite
what was announced by Google. Software installed by end users must be written in Java,
and will not have access to lower level device. This provides the end users to have less
control over their phone’s functionality than other free and open source phone platforms.
On the other end the fours layers of iOS technology will help us in developing applications
for iPhone, hence it is now acquainted with iOS operating system for iPhone.

ABSTRACT:
A study on customers’ preference enables marketer to predict a customers’ preference in
the market; it also understanding of the role of that consumption has in the lives of
individuals. Customers’ research takes place at every phase of the consumption process,
before the purchase, during the purchase and after purchase. It attempts to understand the
buyer decision processes/buyer decision making process, both individually and in groups. It
also tries to assess influences on the customers from groups such as family, friends,
reference groups, and society in general. What we buy, how we buy, where we buy, in how
much quantity we buy depends on our perception, self-concept, social and cultural
background and our age and family cycle, our attitudes, personality, many other factors that
are both internal and external to us.
INTRODUCTION
Android was founded in PALO ALTO, CALFORNIA in October 2003 by ANDY RUBIN, “smarter
mobile device they are more aware of its owners location and preferences”. The early
intentions of the company were to develop an operating system for digital cameras. Though
when it was realizes that the market for the device was not large enough, the company
diverted its effects towards producing a smart phone operating system that would rival
SYMBIAN and Microsoft WINDOWS MOBILE. Android is a mobile operating system(OS)
based on the LINUX KERNEL and currently developed by GOOGLE with a user interface
based on direct manipulation, Android is designed primarily for touch screen mobile device
such as smartphones and tablets computers.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
In this study, the performance and problems of the customer has been analyzed. To find
out factors that influences the customers to buy the android mobiles .To identify the
necessary change in product features and customers feeling about the android mobile
phones. This study will be useful for the company to make necessary changes in price,
designs, apps and etc..,
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
1. To identify the customers awareness towards android mobile phones.
2. To find out the factors which influence them to purchase android mobile phones.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research comprise defining and redefining, formation hypothesis or suggested solution,
collection, organizing and evaluating data, making deduction and reaching conclusion and at
last carefully testing the conclusion to determine either they fit the formatted hypothesis.
AREA OF STUDY:
The study was conducted in Coimbatore city.
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
Survey was limited to Coimbatore city only, so it cannot be generalizes to all the centers. The
sample size is limited to 120 customers only some of the respondents are non-co-operations.
Time is one of the major limitations. At most care should be taken by the researchers to choose
the correct from the respondents. The study is based upon primary data, so any wrong
information given by the respondents may mislead the findings.

SUBJECT: Apple Still Tops in Cellphone Customer Satisfaction, but Losing Ground to Samsung and
Others.
AUTHOR: Juli Clover
ABSTRACT:
The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) has today released its annual rankings of
customer satisfaction for mobile phones in the United States. While Apple had the highest customer
satisfaction index score, its score has fallen slightly while competitors like Motorola Mobility, Nokia,
and Samsung have all gained in score.
INTRODUCTION:
“The improvement [of Samsung] is the largest yet for any cell phone manufacturer, and earns
Samsung a position even with the industry average and Nokia (+1%) and just behind second place
Motorola, up 5% to 77. Nevertheless, Samsung remains well behind industry leader Apple.”
Since the May 2012 customer satisfaction survey which was the first that ranked smartphones,
Apple has introduced its newest phone, the iPhone 5, while Samsung has debuted several devices
including its most recent Galaxy S 4.
SCOPE OF STUDY:
It's not accurate to state that Apple is losing ground to Samsung. Apple's cellphone customer
satisfaction numbers might have declined slightly (we have to keep in mind that any rating like this
will have margins of error) but that loss is not going to Samsung (it's conceivable it could be if people
are rating their satisfaction as relative to other phone manufacturers but that's not a given).
Customer satisfaction for a particular manufacturer is independent of other manufacturers (most of
the time, again relativism can play a role but it's not being measured).
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:
1. To identify the customers awareness towards Apple i.e iOS mobile phones.
2. To find out the factors which influence their purchase decision.
CONCLUSION :
Apple is still at the top of the list when it comes to smartphone satisfaction, but this year's ranking
of 81 (out of 100) is two percent below its 2012 ranking of 83. Motorola phones came in second
after Apple, hitting a ranking of 77 after a 5% gain year over year.

CONCLUSION:
The basic concept of Android and iOS it is very hard to predict that which is ahead in mobile
market, both are looking towards the future providing us to more and more advances in our
mobiles. So while choosing a Smartphone does not follow the trend but to understand the
differences between Android and IOS about their advantages and disadvantages which is
supposed to be important when purchasing a Smartphone. We don’t care about who the
winner is but about which company’s software products and services are of our favour.
