SWACHH BHARATH ABHIYAN
Duration Date Contribution to any national level initiative of
85 19/11/2021to Government of India: Swachh Bharath
hours,2weeks 17/01/2021 Abhiyan.
As part of all India council for technical education (AICTE) activity point program, the students
of 7thSemMechanical engineering visited Government of Primary School Kodiyala, Karenahalli
Post Bidadi Hobli, Ramanagara Taluk and District 562109 to contribute to Swachh Bharat
national level of initiative of government of India. The Swach Bharath campaign was held at the
Kodiyala village. Swach Bharath Abhiyan is one of the most significant and popular mission to
have taken place in India. Swachh Bharath Abhiyan is a great step towards the clean India.
Objectives Of the Program:
● Public awareness will also be provided about the drawbacks of open defecation and
promotion of latrine use for this dedicated ground staff will be recruited. For proper
sanitation use, the mission will aim at changing people’s attitudes, mind-sets and
behaviours.
● To keep villages clean, solid and liquid waste management will be ensured through
government school and gram panchyat.
● Generate awareness about sanitation and its impact on public health.
● Bring about behavioural change towards healthy sanitation practices.

Fig 1.7
We collected waste plastics, plastic bottles and many unwanted plastic materials were collected
from Kodiyala village and cleaned the environment to create awareness in local residents. We
also spread the awareness regarding the disposal of plastics and how plastic affect the human
life and environment were spread to the resident’s surrounding area.
Swatch Bharat:
Swatch Bharat is a nation-wide campaign in India for the period 2013-2019 that aims to clean up
the streets, roads and infrastructure of India’s cities, towns and rural areas. The objectives of
Swatch Bharat include eliminating open defecation through the construction of household-owned
and community-owned toilets and establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring toilet
use.
Cleanliness means that there is no dirt, no dust, no stains, and no bad smells. The goals of
cleanliness are health, beauty, absence of offensive odor and to avoid the spreading of dirt and
contaminants to oneself and others.
With the help of cleanliness, we can keep our physical and mental health clean, which will make
us feel good. Cleanliness gives rise to a good character by keeping body, mind, and soul clean
and peaceful. Maintaining cleanliness is the essential part of healthy living because it is the
cleanliness only which helps to improve our personality by keeping clean externally and
internally.
It is everybody’s responsibility and one should keep themselves and their surroundings clean and
hygienic. It also brings good and positive thoughts in the mind which slows down the occurrence
of diseases.
THE CASE STUDY
Waste is known as a matter which current users have no purpose of, or it is known as a matter
which can be harmful to humans, animals or the environment. The result is village surrounding
was filled with waste papers, plastic bags, chocolate rappers etc. If a village environment is dirty
or unkempt, it can actually have a negative effect.
SEPARATING WASTES:
WHAT IS DRY WASTE?
Dry mixed waste consists of waste that doesn’t decay. It is free of organic material such as food.
It is also known as non-biodegradable waste
Dry mixed recycling helps materials find second lives. For example, glass can be recycled
hundreds of times into new jars and bottles.
URM accepts dry garbage such as:
Plastic
Glass
Metal
Timber
Sawdust
Textiles
Cardboard and other mixed paper
Home or office furniture
Household junk
WHAT IS WET WASTE?
Wet waste (such as food scraps or cooking oils) is biodegradable. Recycling diverts food waste
from landfill and turns it into compost.
Restaurants, factories and building sites all need efficient wet waste solutions. Many of them rely
on URM to help their business run smoothly.
URM accepts the following wet waste materials:
Organic food matter
Cooking fats
Oil
Grease
Hazardous waste
Other liquid waste produced as aby-product.
Why is waste segregation important?
Waste segregation is included in law because it is much easier to recycle. Effective segregation
of wastes means that less waste goes to landfill which makes it cheaper and better for people and
the environment. It is also important to segregate for public health.
Fig 1.9
Most places you go to will have some form of waste segregation. Your office may have a bin for
paper and cardboard, the gym has a mixed recyclables bin, even your house should have some
form of waste segregation as all local councils do curb side collection. But how important is it to
put the right waste in the right bins? This blog will discuss why you should pay attention to
waste segregation.
The first reason is it is legally required. Under the Waste Regulations 2011, you must segregate
paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass at source unless it is technically or economically
unfeasible. Under the same regulations, you should implement the waste hierarchy; reduce,
reuse, recycle other recovery and disposal. By law, you should implement this hierarchy and
segregation helps with recycling in particular.
Waste segregation is included in law because it is much easier to recycle. Effective segregation
of wastes means that less waste goes to landfill which makes it cheaper and better for people and
the environment. It is also important to segregate for public health. In particular, hazardous
wastes can cause long term health problems, so it is very important that they are disposed of
correctly and safely and not mixed in with the normal waste coming out of your home or office.
OUTCOME:
● Finally, while collecting wastes, collect dry and wet waste separately and it will help to
dispose.
● Awareness to the village residents regarding proper disposal and segregations, maintain
clean while has per Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

COMPUTERSKILLS AND INTERNET
Faculties of the department along with the 20 students of 4th year Mechanical engineering
assisted the event with full support and enthusiasm. The faculties and students of GECR,
communicated the knowledge about the computers and its parts, operating system and usage of
the most common tool MS office such as MS word where the students understood about creating
documents such as letters, brochures, learning activities, tests, quizzes and students' homework
assignments, followed by MS PowerPoint use that helps a student present data and information
by using text, diagrams with animation, images, and transitional effects, etc in the form of slides
for better understanding the idea or topic in front of the audience practically and easily.
The High School students were also illuminated with the utilization of Internet and information
about the support provided by the well-known search engine Google. The students were imparted
with the basic communication tips that can be done remotely with the people all around the globe
within our fingertips, i.e., email, so as the young and budding minds make a good practice of all
the necessary segments of the computer and its never-ending growth in making the society and
country a better place for everyone.

academic year & motivate the students to inculcate the team work and self-confidence.
In modern life, social media is developing fast. It is used by many people all over the world.
Social media is especially very popular among the young. However, there are many young
people who cannot control themselves and are addicted to social media. Addiction to social
media has many serious effects, including poor study habits, living away from reality and bad
health.

and move the audience in their favour.
5. Raising awareness and stressing the need of proper sanitation and health standards to
lead a very healthy and sophisticated lifestyle and improving the involvement of youth
in public welfare.
6. Importance of self-defence and how every individual should be adept in defending
themselves against an armed or unarmed perpetrator and to remain safe as they move
on with their lives.
7. Helping students to relieve some stress in their demanding, hectic lifestyle and living up
to their parent’s expectations. Somewhere along the way they forget that it’s their life
as well and they should blow some steam as well.
8. Overcoming the need to please or satisfy the social stigma and encouraging students to
do what they would love to and not worry about the opinions and judgments of their
peers.
9. Making them understand their responsibility in turning the escalating environmental
situation the other way around and planting more trees and moving towards a greener
future.
10. To give a brief introduction about various types of games and how they can play an
important role in individual upbringing.
11. To give introductory demo about usage of Microsoft word, Microsoft excel and
Microsoft PowerPoint.
12. The students have learned difference between indoor and outdoor games as well as
difference between online and offline games.
13. They came to know about the importance of education, proper usage of food and
water and clean environment.
Outcome of the Program
The school we visited was fortunate enough to have some of the benefits such as mobile labs,
wonderful teachers and a vast campus and such but maybe the students were lacking a little bit of
knowledge in the career areas and planning their future. I am happy to say that I was lucky
enough to help them clarify their doubts on their futures and help them achieve their goals as
much as I could. The school faculties were kind enough to lend their resources and students for
this program and were very happy that there were still people out there who cared about the
educational institutions often neglected and frowned upon by others. We are very grateful for
having the opportunity of making a small contribution to the school.
The school faculty has adequate resources to educate their children in the fields of
science but they lacked the manpower to fulfill their purpose. The bleak scene of insufficient pay
in the Government schools and the fake position system created by the society discourages
teachers from going into rural schools and colleges but Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale,
Kodiyala and doddabele is blessed to have some very passionate teachers and educated
administrators. Our role there was to simply share some of the knowledge we picked over the
years and share it as much as possible.

PLANTATION:
Duration Date
PLANTATION
87 hours,2weeks 17/05/2022 to
01/06/2022
Objective:
● Trees play an important role in reducing the air pollution and to maintain the good quality air
level in an environment.
● Trees are also useful to reduce the erosion of soil which may lead to high flood situation. So
every individual shall try to plant as many trees as possible.
● Because day by day pollution level in an environment is becoming worse. Hence to
overcome this situation tree plantation is the only solution we have.
About Plantation:
The first Indian national tree plantation week was organized by M.S. Randhawa from 20 to 27
July 1947. Randhawa had been inspired by ideas of a forest week, festival of trees or arbor days
in various countries. The first event of 20 July 1947 was inaugurated with the planting of
Bauhinia saplings by Khurshid Ahmad Khan, commissioner of Delhi in the morning and in the
afternoon, another ceremony was held at the Purana Qila led by the Vice President of the Interim
Government, Nehru.
Outcome of Activity:
Students understood importance of tree plantation and types of trees which are beneficial to
maintain clean environment. Students realized impact of air pollution on society.
We had organized tree plantation activity in order to educate the children about the conservation
of the environment through tree plantation.
The beautiful campus had been used to plant a huge number of saplings which will grow into
big trees and help not only in enhancing the beauty of nature, purify the air, but will also attract
various kinds of birds.
Honorable trustee members of the school, Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff and
students from all grades participated in the tree plantation activity with great enthusiasm.
The fun-filled activity of tree plantation planned by the management of the school was conducted
in order to educate everyone; specially the children of the school to stay connected to their roots
and know their responsibility towards protecting ‘Mother Nature’.
