Upon research and a close look into the market the following results
about the four most demanded CAD softwares have been gathered.
The ranking is as follows:
1. SolidWorks
2. Inventor
3. Revit
4. AutoCAD
SolidWorks
SolidWorks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and
computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program published by
Dassault Systèmes, that runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. It is a
French software corporation which pioneered in CAD with CATIA. It is a
3D software tool that let user create, simulate, publish, and manage the
data.
We have data on 56,615 companies that use Dassault SolidWorks. The
companies using Dassault SolidWorks are most often found in United
States and in the Machinery industry. DS Solidworks Corp. has sold over
3.5 million licenses of SolidWorks worldwide. This includes a large
proportion of educational licenses.
Main industries using SolidWorks:
Aerospace & Aviation
Consumer products
Manufacturing
Medical Device
Industrial products
Oil & Gas
Inventor
Autodesk Inventor is a computer-aided design application for 3D
mechanical design, simulation, visualization, and documentation
developed by Autodesk.
Inventor allows 2D and 3D data integration in a single environment,
creating a virtual representation of the final product that enables users to
validate the form, fit, and function of the product before it is ever built.[2]
Autodesk Inventor includes parametric, direct edit and freeform modeling
tools as well as multi-CAD translation capabilities and in their standard
DWG drawings. Inventor uses ShapeManager, Autodesk's proprietary
geometric modeling kernel. Autodesk Inventor competes directly with
SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and Creo.
We have data on 14,177 companies that use Autodesk Inventor. The
companies using Autodesk Inventor are most often found in United States
and in the Machinery industry.
Revit
Autodesk Revit is a building information modelling software for
architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical,
electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and contractors. The
original software was developed by Charles River Software, founded in
1997, renamed Revit Technology Corporation in 2000, and acquired by
Autodesk in 2002.
The software allows users to design a building and structure and its
components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and
access building information from the building model's database.[1] Revit
is 4D building information modeling capable with tools to plan and track
various stages in the building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and
later maintenance and/or demolition.
We have data on 5,996 companies that use Autodesk Revit. The
companies using Autodesk Revit are most often found in United States
and in the Architecture & Planning industry.
Main Industries using Revit:
Architectural
Construction
Engineering
AutoCAD
AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting
software application. Developed and marketed by Autodesk,[1] AutoCAD
was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on
microcomputers with internal graphics controllers.[2] Before AutoCAD
was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe
computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a
separate graphics terminal.[3] AutoCAD is also available as mobile and
web apps.
AutoCAD is used in industry, by architects, project managers, engineers,
graphic designers, city planners and other professionals. It was supported
by 750 training centers worldwide in 1994.
One of the oldest and most used CAD software for 2D / 3D drafting &
design. It has the ability to create blueprints, equipment layouts, section
planes, model documentation, and more. Learning AutoCAD and
additional 3D CAD software is a recipe for success.
We have data on 141,214 companies that use Autodesk AutoCAD. The
companies using Autodesk AutoCAD are most often found in United
States and in the Construction industry.
