First time in New York

Traveling is one of the most exciting things in my life. It lets me discover
the world from different sides, visit different countries, and experience
their cultures and traditions, meet new interesting people. New York has
been the subject of so many films and stories that, I think, lots of people
dream of a trip to the Big Apple. Of course, I do too, that's true.
So, finally, my family and I went to NYC last year. We had only 3 days
and wanted to get a good idea of Manhattan and to see a few of the other
boroughs.
Our first day in New York was about getting a feel for this massive city.
We enjoyed walking from Union Square to Central Park and marveled at
the buildings around us (the Flatiron Building, the Empire State Building).
We went up the Top of the Rock, which is one of the main observation
decks in midtown NYC. There were great views of the Empire State
Building and the Chrysler Building. It was amazing! The architecture of
these skyscrapers is so gorgeous! Then we popped into the famous Plaza
Hotel is a well-known spot from movie Home Alone. Its lobby was just
stunning. We ended this day taking in the bright lights of Times Square. It
was so magical.
Second day. We walked and walked in Central Park for a long time. We
checked out the Lake near the Central Park Boathouse Restaurant, and
Strawberry Fields, dedicated to John Lennon, and saw the famous Alice in
Wonderland statue, and also Belvedere Castle, the Friedsam Memorial
Carousel, the Conservatory Garden. Central Park is almost like a city.
After relaxing in the park for a bit we visited New York’s (or even the
world’s) best art museum. The Met (short for the Metropolitan Museum of
Art) was an absolute must-see. After picking a few rooms we focused on
those. The Impressionists, the Egyptian section, the Native American art,
and the insanely luxurious European applied arts on the first floor - there
were countless things to see here.
Third day. We wanted to say hello to Lady Liberty and knew that it is
possible to have a free trip to see the statue. So, we just hopped on the
Staten Island Ferry, rode it over, and took amazing views of New York’s
harbor and its most famous resident - The Statue of Liberty. After that, we
headed to see the 9/11 Memorial, a must for anyone’s New York itinerary.
After we have seen the memorial, took a walk across the iconic Brooklyn
Bridge. And then we took a seat somewhere in Brooklyn Bridge Park and
watched the sun went down for an epic sunset and stunning views of
Downtown Manhattan.
Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to see all of what we wanted.
But we had a fantastic time and learned a lot about this marvelous and
famous New York City. We really enjoyed our trip and, of course, we
would like to visit this place again.
