Cedula

This a cedula a specimen of tax receipt torn by katipuneros. For the economic
year 1896-97, the owner of the tax receipt had to pay 2 pesetas 50 céntimos. Andres
Bonifacio and the other katipuneros tore their cedulas, signifying their protest against
the Spanish colonial rule. It signaled the start of the Philippine revolution against Spain
that was followed by series of fierce fighting of Filipino bolos and spears versus Spanish
muskets. Reflecting on this act today, we see the bravery of Filipinos who fought
against a foreign enemy with superior arms. This act of bravery inspired a lot of Filipino
to fight what is right even if it means death in todays generation a lot young folks forgets
what they are fight for that’s why studying the Philippine history will help us to
understand and prevent the history repeating itself.
