Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Response
Good morning, everyone! Let us start our class with a prayer. Me Teacher.
M (Student 1) would you please lead the prayer?
Heavenly Father, we come to you today to ask for your guidance, wisdom, and
support as we tackle our daily tasks and responsibilities. We pray for us and
Motivate
for the people around us and to those who need it most. We ask all this in the
name of Jesus. Amen.
(Short Prayer)
No one is absent today.
Amen.
Again, a pleasant morning to everyone! For the last time, I am Teacher Andrea together with Teacher Alyssa,
Teacher Leah, and Teacher Roland and we are your science teachers for today.
Class secretary who is absent today?
Before we formally start our discussion, let me remind you of the following virtual etiquette we must observe
when attending our synchronous class.
Could someone please read our virtual classroom rules?
Grade 4 SCIENCE
As you enter our virtual classroom, MUTE your microphone, and OPEN your cameras.
Yes Teacher!
Click the RAISE HAND if you want to recite or ask. WAIT for the teacher to call you before you unmute your mi-
crophone.
Do not type unnecessary things on the chat box.

There is a boat in the sea.
The boat is floating in the water.
Are we clear with our virtual classroom rules? Because of the shape of the boat.

Activity 1: Up Up Up (recall)
Directions: A set of choices will be posted and the questions will be presented one by one. Students must raise
their answers using scratch papers.
Up! Up! Up!
1. The materials you see around you are made up of _______.
A. Matter B. Metal C. Chemical
2. Physical appearance such as shape, texture, softness, hardness, and boiling and melting points make
up the _____________.
A. Matter B. Physical Properties C. Chemical Properties
3. ________ shows ability to change its composition to form a new substance.
A. Matter
B. Physical Properties
C. Chemical Properties
Good job! I can say that you still remember your lessons. In that case, here’s our first activity for today: “Study
the Picture!”
Guide questions:
1. Can you describe what is in the picture?
2. What happen to the boat above the water?
3. Why do you think the boat floats on the water?
4. Why do you think it is important for the object to float?
5. How can floating objects help us?
Alright! All your answers are correct! To further know our topic for today, let’s have another activity.
Activity 3: Figure it out! Sinks
Directions: The pupils are divided into two groups. Each group will be given a list of objects and will figure out if Sinks

Guide questions:
1. What kind of materials floated on water? Sank in water?
2. How did you guess if the object floats or sinks?
Grade 4 SCIENCE
3. What do you think our topic for today?
Excellent! Our topic for today is all classifying materials that floats and sinks. You will hear more about these
things as we go along with our discussion.
But before that, in our discussion we will encounter some sentences with missing words. In that case, I want you
to find the word that will pop up in the presentation.
D
Discuss Do you have any questions or clarifications?
None, Teacher!
Alright! Let’s start.
You have learned in Grade 3 Science that matter is any that has mass and volume. The amount of matter an
object has is called mass and the space occupied by this mass id called volume.
You have also learned that matter is classified according to its particle attachment and closeness of its
molecules.
In this manner, matter can be?
Solid, Liquid, and Gas
Solid particles are closely packed while ______ in liquid are farther apart. In gas, particles ca moves in
any direction.
particles
What properties of matter is evident in the activity? What makes the object float on or sink in water?
Based on the result of the activity,
____ materials used are made up of different kinds like metal, wood, and plastic. Water and air are liquid
and gas, respectively.
Solid
Although materials are solid, it does not mean that they will always sink in water and gases will always float.
There were some materials in the activity which you thought were light but sank. Similarly, there are materials
which you though were heavy and yet they floated.
Materials are light when it can displace small amount of water when placed in it, while materials are
heavy when they can displace large amount of water. The amount of liquid that an object displaces is
the mass of the objects. The mass of an object per space occupied by its volume is ______.
Buoyant ____ is the ability of an object to float when its place in a fluid, and is related to density. If an
object is less dense than the fluid which it is placed, it floats. If it is denser than the fluid, it sinks.
Density
Buoyancy is how well something ____. In order for an object to float, its density has to be less than
whatever liquid it is floating on. So, the less dense an object is related to the liquid it is floating on, the
more buoyant it is.
Trivia time! Force
A ship is heavy and made of steel, but its special shape and the large volume of air enclosed in it gives it a less
average density than water.
