Ulum ul Qur’an Syllabus

Course Objectives:

This course will give students the ability to explain different subjects as they pertain to the Sciences of the
Qur’an. Students will study the revelation, authenticity, preservation, and miraculous nature of the Qur’an.
Students will develop:

1. Arabic Reading Fluency & Comprehension Skills


2. An Appreciation of the Value of the Qur’an
3. Critical Thinking & Analytical Skills to Interact with the Qur’an

Methods of Instruction:

This course will be delivered through a hybrid in-person and online model, conducted through a
combination of in-class instruction as well as in class reading of the text. The instructor will correct the
reading and translation of the student, facilitate group discussions and provide supplementary reading
material. All exams and quizzes will be provided through the Google Classroom.

Course Assessment:

This course will be assessed through the following assignments & requirements:

1. Attendance: Please see the Student Handbook for the complete policy.
2. Class Participation: Students are expected to engage in class activities and discussions.

3. Homework: For homework/class preparation, students are expected to read and translate three pages of
the textbook before the next class period.

4. Assignments: Other assignments such as mandatory study guides, text analysis, and essays will be
assigned periodically as needed by the instructor.

5. Exams: There will be an exam after the completion of each section.

Student Expectations

1. Be present in class on time.


2. Remote students must have their camera on unless permission is sought.
3. Be prepared to read and translate.
4. No eating during class time.
5. No phone usage or surfing the internet during class time.
6. No extension requests on Exam days (must be sent via email 24 hours prior).
