INTRODUCTION
The Joy of Giving is Celebrated every year from October 2 to 8,
#DaanUtsav or Joy of Giving is India’s biggest festival of giving during
which people come together and perform acts of kindness by giving
their time, material, or money in interesting ways to any cause(s)
of their choice.
Aim
It aims at spreading joy and happiness among those who need help
and support, and for each of us to experience the joy in giving.
Mission
The festival whose mission is to celebrate giving, has been supported
to a huge extent through the combined efforts of NGOs, corporates,
media houses, educational institutions, local citizens and others in
India.
Objective
Making citizens aware of the Art of giving back to society. It’s not
always money that helps; at times our little effort can change lives.
Problem and Causes
The main problem to celebrate this week is to help poor and needy
people with money, food, clothes and by supporting from mentally .
In this week we have to collect materials from nearby locality,
houses and distribute the collected stuff in nearby areas, villages, or
slums.
The cause of this problem is poverty and lack of education in the
society.
Objective of CDP
Much like an attitude of gratitude , the joy of giving leads to a
happier, healthier life. In fact, generosity sets off a series of reactions
in your brain that improves mood, reduces stress, boosts overall
physical health, builds self-esteem, and even helps you live longer!
i. To aware the people: The main objective of community
development is working to make the people aware from
various problems in a community which hinders children
growth, education and health.
ii. Solve community problems: Different problem faced by
community people may be solved due to the start of such
programs in the affected areas. The community also give hand
to government for help them in development and growth.
iii. To motivate people: Programs are working for the motivation
of community people. Social organizers are employed in
various sectors for their arousal and working for community
welfare and betterment of humanity.
Need and scope of the project
i. Awareness: We aware guardian about our social problems and
ensure their help towards community. So, it will help children
to get a better environment.
ii. Health Education: We provide health education to children and
their family. It will help them to become healthy. They have
learnt about hygiene and cleanness.
iii. Clothes to Poor People: During the CDP, we gave clothes and
essential things to poor and needy peoples.
iv. Spending time with children: We spend time with poor
children, play games and give chocolate.
Effectiveness of the project
These good feelings are reflected in our biology. In a 2006 study,
Jorge Moll and colleagues at the National Institutes of Health found
that when people give to charities, it activates regions of the brain
associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust, creating a
“warm glow” effect.
Conclusion
People who give, experience more happiness than people who
receive. Graduating from the mindset of taking to that of giving
purifies the mind and brings immense joy.
Receiving gifts is a great feeling but is mostly short-lived. Our lives
are fulfilling when we give and share, and that great inner joy comes
from helping others to better their lives. Giving provides an intrinsic
reward that is far more valuable than the gift we receive .
