Students' challenges in the new normal classroom
With the global pandemic the world is experiencing at the moment, distance learning is the only
option for students to learn. Many people claims that in order for us to strive despite the
complications, we must nurture the education. This statement has something to do with the factors
that were considered by our officials to carry on with distance learning or somewhat called as 'new
normal classroom'. However, we can't change the fact that both learners and educators have been
agitated with this quick alteration happened in our education system. We were all unprepared to
meet the challenges associated with this. Until now, I must say that learning with this new normal
classroom is still difficult for us and causes a lot of challenges with us students.
From my perspective, one of the downsides of the distance learning claimed by many of us is the lack
of capability to acquire some technological devices. This digital separation impacts social learning as
well as the communication between the educators and students. Aside from that, many online
learning platforms lack a procedure for monitoring student responses and then re-monitoring
whether or not the student has learned. Most students are unaware that they are not just completing
work, they are attempting to learn, and as a result, they simply try to get it done regardless of whether
or not they are learning correctly. Possibly the largest downside of this setup sits in health of each
students specifically in mental aspects. It's evident that the burnout and stress do keeps staying and
invading the inner emotions and feelings of the learners with the thoughts of making them frustrated.
In some cases, students having a hard time balancing the school responsibilities and household
chores without having emotional distress and worries in just a day. Furthermore, distance learning is
more complex and challenging due to the fact that learning materials are frequently rushed, resulting
the students to be in state of panic at all times. The new normal classroom also results with a lack of
interaction with our peers. It brings a heavy set of emotional and practical stressors to every
discussion, adds challenge to every hour of the day. Above all, it's tough to overcome the disruption of
standard and even harder to create the expectation of work with this sort of setup.
It is undeniable, that these new norms unquestionably result in inefficiency and a grim
consequence in several facets of our life. However, we should keep in mind that what matters the
most is to continually strive for the success regardless of any difficulties. Our choices is still in our
hands. It totally depends on just mere one factor, and that is the capability and willingness to direct
one’s own education.
