Project report.
Hello teacher Moses. In this writing we will present our work report, in which I can
express how the classes already seen have helped us, so in order to develop the
project, the classes taken will help us to present the presentation step by step, so
we began to investigate with my team the different places to be able to vacation as
well as what can be done and recommendations of said places, for which my team
will present a video where we will be in places and seeing what information there is
to be on a good vacation, I am satisfied with my team that we all have contributed
good ideas to the project to work on, where the project that we are carrying out will
come from the topics seen in class, to be able to make our video of something fun
to which we will give contributions from the classes and things that can help us, so
that we have more reinforcements and learning in us, which makes us feel
confident to learn the basics and new things.

Start of our group tours

Before going on a trip we must make a list of the things that you must take to be
able to enjoy the vacations well for that we must pack a suitcase which we will
carry our belongings and comforts for us, Oh, and to make it easier for you not to
forget anything, classifies the items in categories such as: clothing; hygiene and
health; technology; documents (includes credit cards that you must enable); and
others. It is up to each one how the type of luggage feels most comfortable, you
must choose between carrying a bag, a suitcase or a backpack, and that will
depend on what kind of trip you intend to do. If you plan to walk a lot, do not
hesitate; a backpack is your best option.
It is good to take out travel insurance. One of the most important things to do
before traveling is to take out international medical insurance. This is not a whim or
an exaggeration. In fact, having travel insurance is a mandatory requirement to
enter many countries.
We must already take into account the purchase of tickets and the accommodation
where we will stay. It is recommended that when you first arrive in a city, you have
a place to sleep, even if it is for the first night. Keep in mind that travel is tiring and
you'll want to get there, have a place to leave your luggage, take a shower and get
some rest.
Having the necessary documentation is another fundamental aspect of any trip.
Also, it is one of the most complex. You should take into account if you require a
passport, visa, bank statements or even vaccination certificates. Keep in mind that
many documents have expirations or can only be used a certain number of times,
such as some visas.

1
It is good to carry some location or maps for the routes that we will take, Well, with
this last tip, we have concluded our list of things that you must do before traveling.

Group vacation to San Cristóbal de las Casas

San Cristóbal de las Casas has an ethnic presence and a rich colonial tradition that
keep it as one of the favorite destinations for foreign tourism. Its construction
followed a process similar to that of other colonial cities that were created in New
Spain. First of all, the main square was laid out, around which the places that
would occupy the most important constructions were designated.

 Sunset in the plaza of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.

Around its main square there are architectural jewels such as the Cathedral that
boasts a Baroque façade; the Municipal Palace of neoclassical style; the portals;
the church of San Nicolás, whose style represents the colonial religious
architecture of Chiapas; and the Casa de la Sirena, with a Plateresque-inspired
façade from the 16th century. The neighborhoods preserve their identity expressed
in trades and festivals and are part of a living culture that is also manifested in
textiles, goldsmithing, popular toys and jewelry.
Characteristic:
 He joined the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2003.
 Before the arrival of the Spanish conquerors, the current San Cristóbal
valley was known as Hueyzacatlán, which in Nahuatl means "next to the big
grass."

2
 It stands out for its green landscape covered by mist and for its magnificent
baroque, plateresque and neoclassical colonial buildings.
 San Cristóbal de las Casas has had various names. The current one refers
to the patron saint of travelers, San Cristóbal, while "de las Casas" is in
honor of the first bishop of the city: Fray Bartolomé de las Casas.
Attractions:
 Cathedral of San Cristobal de las Casas
 Cultural Center of Los Altos
 Mayan World Textile Center
 Church of Mercy
 Church of Saint Nicholas
 Na Bolom Amber Museum
 Temple and former convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán
Holidays:
 Feast of San Cristóbal, in the month of July.
 Cervantes International Baroque Festival, the date of this festival is variable
(end of October), cultural and artistic events are held.
 Spring and Peace Fair, includes parades, rides, contests, concerts and
cultural events.
 Carnival, during the week of festivities there are purification rituals.
 Foundation of the City, every March 31 the foundation of the city is
celebrated, with parades, fireworks and marimba music.
Places which we toured and visited as a group
The Zocalo
It is the main square of the city. The place where vendors and friends gather to
enjoy a moment in the sun. There is also the cathedral with its beautiful ocher
façade, built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 17th.

The Church of Guadeloupe

The Iglesia de la Guadalupe is a small and pretty church built in 1835 that is
located on a hill.

3
After climbing the 79 steps, an ascent that at 2,120 meters is a bit more strenuous
than usual, you get a very nice view of San Cristóbal and the surrounding
mountains.
 Visit the church of Guadalupe: it is easy to get there, just follow Real de
Guadalupe street. Admission is free.

The Mayan World Textile Center

The Mayan World Textile Center is located in the Centro Cultural de los Altos de
Chiapas, which houses two museums.
Los Altos de Chiapas is a vast Chiapas region of great cultural wealth, mainly
indigenous, that encompasses 17 municipalities, including San Cristóbal de las
Casas.
There are some 500 pieces of the finest examples of Mayan textiles, brimming with
detail and color, sourced from many parts of Mexico and Central America, primarily
Chiapas and Guatemala.

The markets of San Cristobal

What sense would a visit to San Cristóbal de las Casas have without visiting the
markets? There are several in the area, but these are the 3 that are worth a visit:
Mercado de Dulces y Artesanías: also called “Mercado de San Francisco”, it is a
small market where you can find the famous Mexican sweets (cookies, candies,
etc.), and many local crafts. It is precisely from this market that "El Coleto" leaves,

a tourist tram that offers a one-hour tour of the city. Corner of Avenida Insurgentes
and Hermanos Domínguez, every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Santo Domingo Craft Market: It is a true labyrinth, located in front of the Santo
Domingo church. Here you will find textile products, embroidery, jewelry, basketry,
etc. made by artisans from San Cristóbal, San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán.
Mercado Viejo: also known as the “downtown market”, its official name is Mercado
José Castillo. It is located about 8 blocks from the main square and in fact I arrived
there by chance while looking for a pharmacy. It is a covered and lively market,
where you can buy everything, fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. Of course, it is also
the right place to try some local recipes. Belisario Domínguez, Barrio del Cerrillo,
every day from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Church of San Cristobalito

After a visit to the candy market, I arrived, before some intriguing stairs that led to a
small church.
Once upstairs, out of breath, I found out that it was called the church of Cerrito de
San Cristóbal or San Cristobalito.
The church, built in the 18th century, is simple and small, but its interest lies in the
views, since it offers a beautiful panoramic view of San Cristóbal de las Casas and
its surroundings.
If you are not very fit, do not worry, there are benches to sit on, which allows
everyone to climb at their own pace.

5
The Chiflon
El Chiflón is an impressive natural site, a must-see in San Cristóbal and indeed in
all of Chiapas!
There are 5 waterfalls, (the highest, the Velo de Novia, is 120 m high), with pools
of crystal clear turquoise water, all of them hidden in dense vegetation.

Sumidero Canyon
It can be discovered with a boat trip on the Grijalva River, which allows you to
admire its high walls dotted with caves and various natural formations. Visiting its
viewpoints you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surroundings.

Rancho Nuevo Caves

Visitors come to the park mainly to visit the Rancho Nuevo caves, located inside a
mountain, but it is also possible to do other activities for the whole family in the
park: hiking, horseback riding, zip line.
You can bring your own lunch, but keep in mind that the park is home to several
small restaurants where you can try chorizo quesadillas, the local specialty!

recommendations
San Cristóbal de las Casas is an excellent place to use as a base to tour the
different attractions of Chiapas.
It is a very touristy place and, in general, safe, from where daily excursions depart
to other places in the State.
Some of the main attractions that can be visited from there include the Sumidero
Canyon, the Palenque Archaeological Zone, the towns of Zinacantán and San
Juan Chamula, the Montebello lakes and the El Chiflón, Agua Azul and Misol-Ha
waterfalls.
Reviews
San Cristóbal is a colonial city of white houses and red roofs, cobbled streets and
narrow sidewalks, elegant arcades and wide squares. Part of its unique
atmosphere is due not only to the markets and cobblestone streets, but to the
comfortable mix of urban and rural atmosphere. In the surroundings there are
many villages of indigenous Mayans, which makes this area one of the most
fascinating in all of Mexico. For this reason, many visitors come to San Cristóbal
purely for the beauty of the place, but the main attraction for most is the opportunity
to see the life of the Mayan culture up close. Rich in indigenous culture and history,
San Cristóbal is an anthropologist's dream.
