In today’s lesson We will discover the beauty and the treasure that region 4 has to offer, let start with
the geography

Geography
The region 4 was split into to groups it is the REGION 4A or CABARZON and REGION 4B or known as
MIMAROPA that composed provinces of Mindoro (divided into Occidental Mindoro and Oriental
Mindoro), Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. On May 17, 2002, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
signed Executive Order No. 103, which reorganized the Southern Tagalog region. Due to its size, Region
IV was split into two separate regions, Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and Region IV-B (Mimaropa). But we will
mainly focus on Calabarson or the REGION 4A

Let’s get move with the Calabarzon’ industry
LAGUNA - is home to the International Rice Research Institute, which can be found within the University
of the Philippines Los Baños, whose main goal is find sustainable ways to help rice farmers
BATANGAS- is home to a large pineapple and coconut industry, which is used to make Barong Tagalogs
and native liqueurs such as lambanog and tuba.
QUEZOn- Quezon is the country's leader in coconut products such as coconut oil and copra.
RIZAL- Rizal is known for its piggeries
Cavite- has embarked on an aggressive Industry Cluster Development program with Coffee and Other
Processed Food Industry

Cavite- Wagayway Festival is celebrated every May 28 in Imus, Cavite to commemorate the Battle of
Alapan where many Filipinos following the lead of General Emilio Aguinaldo risked their lives against the
conquering Spaniards.
Laguna- Anilag is a shortened word for “Ani ng Laguna,” which literally means “harvest of Laguna.” Its
celebrated in every second week of March.
Batangas- When is Lechon Festival? Lechon Festival in Batangas occurs every June 24. This festival is
celebrated in honor of St. John the Baptist through street dancing, masses, lechon parade (parada ng
lechon),
Rizal- Higantes Festival is a secular celebration initiated by the Municipality of Angono to
express gratitude to its patron Saint Clement, in which the parade of giants is held on Sunday
before the town feast on November 23
Quezon Province- The Niyogyugan Festival—a combination of the words "niyog" and
"yugyog"—showcases not only the heritage and culture of Quezon but also the province's main
source of livelihood – coconut.
