Competency:
Multiplies numbers up to 3– digit numbers by up to 2– digit numbers
with or without regrouping.
Concept:
Ask: How do you multiply a 3-digit multiplicand by a 2-digit
multiplier without regrouping?
Multiply all the digits in the multiplicand from right to left by each digit
in the multiplier.
Add the partial products to get the final product.
Example:
To get the product of 323 and 32, study the solution below using
the place
value chart.

Concept:
The phrase “about how many” does not ask for an actual answer but
an estimate.
In estimating the product, you have to round each factor to its highest
place value then multiply the rounded numbers.
You can find the actual product to check if the estimated product is
reasonable.
