Science Chapter 2: The Respiratory system.
Q1. What is breathing?
A. The process during which air rich in oxygen is taken in and air rich in
water vapours and carbon dioxide is given out is known as “Breathing”.
Q2. What is inhalation?
A. The process of taking in of air is known as “Inhalation”.
Q3. What is exhalation?
A. The process of giving out of air is known as “Exhalation”.
Q4. Breathing is the process that occurs throughout the life of all organisms.
Q5. Define Respiration? Or What is the Respiration?
A. The process of breaking down the complex food substance with help of
oxygen and releasing energy is called as Respiration.
Q6. Where the respiration process takes place?
A. Respiration takes place in inside the body cells.
Q7. What is the output of the respiration process?
A. Energy is the output of the respiration process.
Q8. What are the various parts of the respiratory system? Or What organs
made the respiratory system.
A. Nose, Nasal passage windpipe and lungs are the parts of the respiratory
system.
Q9. What is meant by “One breathe”?
A. One breathe means one inhalation and one exhalation.
Q10. Why should we always breathe through our nose?
A. We breathe through our nose or nostrils, as nostrils contains hairs,
which act as a filter that trap dust particles and send clean air for
respiration.
Q11. Write properties of Lungs.
A. They are pair of Spongy
B. They are elastic
C. They are having a bag like structure.
Q12. Does breathing rate remains same under all conditions? True/ False.
Q13. Provide example when our breathing rate increases.
A. Our breathing increases when we do exercise or when run fast.
Q14. Provide example when our breathing decreases.
A. When we do rest our breathing decreases.
Q15. Describe how the air reaches to the lungs.
A. -> Air from nasal passage -> Reaches to lungs through windpipe-> Then it
divides into two bronchi -> Enters into Lungs.
Q16. Who carries fresh air to all parts of the body?
A. Blood carries fresh air to all parts of body.
Q17. What is the most important organ in the respiratory system?
A. Lungs are the most important organ in the respiratory system.
Q18. Which gas is given out of our body?
A. Carbon dioxide is the gas given out of the body.
Q19.Why percentage of oxygen in our body decreases?
A. Percentage of oxygen in our body decreases, because our body takes
oxygen for respiration.
Q20. What precaution we should take to keep diseases away?
A. 1. Eating healthy food keeps our body healthy and prevents us from
diseases.
B. Take personal care of health and hygiene.
C. In case of severe cold, visit doctor.
Q21. Why sneezing occurs?
A. Hairs in nose use to trap dust particles, but sometimes these particles
are not trapped and cause irritation. Thus sneezing occurs to throw
these particles out.
Q22. What diseases caused by polluted air?
A. Common Cold, Headache, dizziness, swelling of lungs and bronchitis.
Q23.Why we should handkerchief in front of our nose while sneezing?
A. Because common cold is communicable diseases.
Q24. How we can ensure healthy breathing?
A. Morning walk [ As air is clean and fresh]
B. Yoga.
Q25. Why we should not eat too much fatty food?
A. It reduces capacity of breathing and leads to obesity.
