GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH PROPOSAL- 2021
The Research Proposal should be in “typed form” as per the specifications mentioned
hereunder:
FONT SIZE: For main headings: 14
For sub headings: 12
For matter otherwise:
12
FONT STYLE: The font of Research Proposal as well as of Dissertation will be “Times
New Roman” only.
HEADINGS: Headings should be in “capitals” and can be bold but should not be in italics
or underlined.
LINE SPACING: The line spacing should be exactly 1.5.
PAGE: The pages of Research Proposal should be of “A4” size only.
Pages should be “single side” printed.
Research Proposal should be limited to “10-15” pages only.
Pages should be duly numbered.
PAGE NUMBERS: Pages should be numbered in “numerical” only.
Page numbers should be “centre” aligned.
ALIGNMENT: The Research Proposal should be “justified” in alignment.
FOOT NOTING: Footnoting should be done in ILI format.

REFERENCES: References in the Research Proposal should be mentioned in ILI format.
BINDING OF RESEARCH PROPOSAL: The Research Proposal should be spiral bound.
POWER POINT PRESENTATION: All the students are required to give a power
point presentation of their Research Proposal before the Law Faculty of USL.
Everyone must bring their power point presentation in “Pen drives only”.
SLIDES: Slides should be clear, visible and intelligible.
Number of slides should remain in between 8-10.
Slides should be in short points form and use of complete sentences must be
avoided.
FORMAL PAGES: The samples of Front Page, Formal Pages and Index have been provided
to you for your convenience.
FRONT PAGE: It should be centre aligned
It should be colour printed.
Times New Roman should be the font style.
Title on front page should be of font size 14.
Rest of the page will be of font size 12.
Only 20% Plagiarism is allowed in the submission and any work found not to be in
consonance with this requirement will be straight away rejected.
After approval of Research Proposal by concerned supervisors and after due corrections (if
any), students are required to submit a total number of 4 copies of their Research Proposal
(all spiral bound and front page coloured) to their concerned supervisors by 30th April, 2021
