MODULE TITLE: BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEM
YEAR: 2020-2021
ASSIGNEMENT TITLE: WRIT1 - 60% of overall grade
PROGRAMME: BA BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
PART1:
1) While a company is thinking about updating its technology, it takes into consideration
different things. First, the company will think about the effect of the system in
different resources such as financial resources, human resources, informational
resources and physical ones. Second influence might be the flexibility of the system,
the most important thing while choosing a system is to know if it going to match the
organizational need. Third influence might be the security. Companies always choose
a system that is credible and safe for their data and information. The forth influence
could be the quality. Businesses focus more on the quality of the system chosen and
what value could bring to the company. The fifth influence could be the price. If the
price is suitable for the budget of the company, then the manager could easily make
the decision and update a technology.
2) I think that most companies make the decisions about IS according to their needs.
Even though the technology might change if the business doesn’t need it, no decision
will be done towards that. The most important thing that drive manager to make
decisions is the business problems, needs and available resources. And that can differ
accordingly to the size of the business. For example, a small business cannot make
decision based on newest technologies because certainly it will not have the financial
resources to cover that purchase. For medium businesses, they can rely on the two.
They will make decision sometimes based on their need and other time based on
technological updates. As we can see medium business could probably afford it.
However for big companies, they surely make their decision based on technologies.
The company always want to be the first on implementing new technologies inside the
work environment which can beneficial for it and give a competitive advantage in the
market. For example if a small business want to have a CRM it will be costly for them,
they will need knowledgeable employees and the system can be bigger them. However
when a big business such as telecommunication business found a new technology that
can afford all their information and processes they need. They will not care about the
cost as they care about the value added.
3) While implementing a new information system, individuals follow many steps. First,
they need to install it in the organizational computers which can be hard and need
more expertize. Than they should login into the system. Some users at the first time
they could not recognize how to login. The users sometime receive training about the
system which can be costly and delaying time. After that, the individual will enter the
data into the system which need time and knowledge about the use of it. Then, the
company will try it and see the outcome. For example, if a medium company want to
implement an ERP that englobe different departments. Their employees will be
unknowledgeable and resistant about the system and how to implement it. Each
system have its own features and tools.

II. Description of industry and competition
1. DESCRIPTION OF INDUSTRY
The industry of automobile is the largest in the world. It contains manufacturing trucks and
vehicles. It has a broad network of selling, many locations of manufacturing and high quality
of development and research in that industry. Exists many brands that seek to master the
market. This industry has a huge demand through different levels of society. So it generates
an interesting revenue. These companies try to generate a variety of different products that
meet customer preferences. Even though this industry generates a high profit, it has many
expenses and cost such as equipment, the big intensive labor, research and materials (value
line, 2015).
In these decades, there is a trend of switching from diesel cars to electric cars. These later
support the environment and want to drive people to the use of battery care. This change is
supported by the improvement of technology in that field. The second trend is autonomous
cars. The most known company in that field is tesla. This system tries to provide
advantageous facilities to the driver. The third trend is most companies compete in investing
more in research and development to add more features and technology to their products
(eleks, 2019).
There are many things can that influence the automotive industry. First, the suppliers are the
most influencers in the price of the automobile. If the suppliers increase the price of raw
materials, the product of automobile will cost them more and they will higher the price. The
second influence is the government policies. These policies affect the sales of vehicles. The
third influence is the interest rates. As the interest rates are growing, so the company might
have a decrease in the quantity sold. Customer cannot afford a highest interest rate while
taking a loan. The fourth influence is the taxes. More companies are paying high taxes, which
can limit the production (Et auto, 2016)

A business information system is a combination of elements that are related to each other to
reach. The process of any business information system starts by inputting data, then
processing it, then having an output of information, and controlling actions. The BIS is very
