Direction: Read and examine what is being asked per item. Give a
comprehensive answer to the following items. Cite your sources using APA
format.
1. Write a single-page autobiography of an influential person in your
life.
A mother's job of providing for nine kids was not simple. It
seems as though she must carry each of her children to adulthood
and that any mother would do the same. The bond between a
mother and her children is what keeps families together, and I have
never witnessed my mother disregard or forget her duties to us.
And I'm here to attest to the type of mother she is to me on her
behalf.
My mother Imelda A. Mesiona was born on January 2, 1966, in
the City of Mati, Davao Oriental. During her childhood, she is
described as jolly, fun to be with, and approachable. In her times of
living with her parents, she differed because she was unfortunate to
go to school and finish her studies. As Imelda reached 16 years old,
she got married early to Felix B. Mesiona.
Imelda did not view having her first kid when she was a young
mother as a mistake or a regret, but she was aware that she might
have made a better choice to complete her education but given
their financial situation, she knew she couldn't. She concentrated on
raising her future children well because her husband is also a good
provider, relieving her of some of the burdens.
Imelda has a reputation among her kids for being a devoted and
responsible mother. Her nine children call her almost everything
because she insists that they all go to school, almost as if she
understood that by becoming their friend and nurse this time, she
would experience the life that she was never given. Imelda never
truly regrets the path she took in life because she realized that even
if she is not gifted in the academic realm, she is undoubtedly gifted
in raising her children to be models of what a nice and lovely life is.
2. Write your reflection/reaction about the literary text entitled ‘’A
Christmas Memory’’ by Truman Capote. Limit your essay to one
page only. Your reflection/reaction must contain lines from the
literary work to support your claim.
It is puzzling why individuals are able to notice and recall certain
scenarios and incidents as youngsters yet are unable to articulate
them. As an adult, Truman Capote wrote the short story A
Christmas Memory using his vivid memories. The opening of the
narrative comes in late November, which serves as a metaphor for
all the years Capote could recall starting to make Christmas
fruitcakes. But the year he's picked is the final Christmas the three
friends spent together. Capote, a seven-year-old kid, only has two
friends: his distant cousin, who is in his sixties, and Buddy, a
devoted dog. Even though the cousins are very different in age, it is
obvious that they share almost the same degree of intelligence. His
elderly relative has never outgrown her infantile behaviors because
she has been dismissed by grownups due to her weak health, not
because she is uneducated or naïve by choice.
But here, on these youthful pages, there is not a teaspoonful of
anything artificial and there’s nothing diluted, either. The sincerity of
his emotion and the surety of his vision is in every line. On his
deathbed, his mind wandering, his final words? “It’s me, it’s Buddy.”
As if he was reunited with Sook at last.
It was, in the end, where he always wanted to be.
In his role as narrator, Capote recalls happy recollections from
the period before his family determined he did not belong at home.
Overall, the narrative is happy and sad at the same time because of
the three friends' simple bliss. After this particular Christmas,
Capote is compelled to leave his home and his innocence behind.
Because Capote utilizes this work to both relive his recollections of
happier times and to invoke the memories of the readers, the
narrative is not entirely self-serving. Many people can also identify
with the concept of losing one's innocence as a youngster.
However, Capote wrote this poem with the sharp observation of a
young person and the wisdom that comes only with experience.
