LITURGY OF THE WORD
FIRST READING (Hebrew 11:1-2, 8-19)
Reader: Ms. Mhel Christele P. Palmares, Level II – Student
A reading from the Acts of Hebrew
Brothers and sisters: Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not
seen. Because of it the ancients were well attested. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was
called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; he went out, not knowing
where he was to go. By faith he sojourned in the promised land as in a foreign country, dwelling
in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs of the same promise; for he was looking forward to the city
with foundations, whose architect and maker is God. By faith he received power to generate,
even though he was past the normal age —and Sarah herself was sterile—for he thought that
the one who had made the promise was trustworthy. So it was that there came forth from one
man, himself as good as dead, descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless
as the sands on the seashore.
All these died in faith. They did not receive what had been promised but saw it and greeted it
from afar and acknowledged themselves to be strangers and aliens on earth, for those who
speak thus show that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of the land from
which they had come, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better
homeland, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has
prepared a city for them.
By faith Abraham, when put to the test, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the
promises was ready to offer his only son, of whom it was said, Through Isaac descendants shall
bear your name. He reasoned that God was able to raise even from the dead, and he received
Isaac back as a symbol.
The Word of the Lord.
Commentator: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: (Luke 1:69-70, 71-72, 73-75)
Psalmist: Mr. Joshua Kinth H. Matienzo and Ms. Rian B. Lagahit Level II- Student
Response: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel; he has come to his people.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the house of his servant David.
Response: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel; he has come to his people.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old that he would save us from our
sins from the hands of all who hate us. He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to
remember his holy covenant.
Response: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel; he has come to his people.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to set us free from the bonds
of our enemies, free to worship him without fear, holy and righteous in his sight all the
days of our life.
Response: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel; he has come to his people.
Commentator: Please all rise for the proclamation of the Holy Gospel.
ALLELUIA (John 3:16)
Response: Alleluia, alleluia.
Priest: I will send to you the Spirit of truth, says the Lord; he will guide you to all
truth.
Response: Alleluia, alleluia.
GOSPEL READING (Mk 4:35-41)
Priest: The Lord be with you
Commentator: And with your spirit.
Priest: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.
Commentator: Glory to You, O Lord.
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: "Let us cross to the
other side." Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking
over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a
cushion. They woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are
perishing?" He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!" The
wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, "Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?" They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
"Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?"

give you thanks, Father most holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus
Christ, your Word through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our
Savior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin.
Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he stretched out his
hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and
manifest the resurrection. And so, with the Angels and all the Saints, we
declare your glory, as with one voice we acclaim:
All: Holy
Holy, Holy, Holy
Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of Your glory.
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna in the highest,
Blessed is He, who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna in the highest,
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna in the highest,
Commentator: Please Kneel
EPICLESIS
Priest: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy,
therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them
like
the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body + and Blood of our
Lord, Jesus Christ.
INSTITUTION NARRATIVE
Priest: At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he
took
bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and eat of it: for this is my body which will be given
up
for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and,
once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: Take this, all
of
you, and drink from it: for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the
new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
MYSTERY OF FAITH
Priest: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
Commentator: When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, Lord
Jesus, until you come in glory. (if recited)
or
All: WHEN WE EAT
When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup,
we proclaim Your Death, O Lord,
until You come again,
until You come again,
we proclaim Your Death, O Lord.
Anamnesis, Offering, and Intercessions:
Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation giving
thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister
to you.
Humbly we pray that partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may
be
gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring
her to the fullness of charity, together with FRANCIS our Pope and JOHN our
Bishop and all the clergy.
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the
hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them
into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the
blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
with
the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout
the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and
glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
