General objectives: Students should be able to develop an understanding and awareness of how
to use spreadsheet and the different terms associated with spreadsheet.
Specific Objectives: At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Correctly define the terms associated with spreadsheets
2. Demonstrate to the class, the difference between a row and a column using their body
3. Correctly label the different parts of a spreadsheet after a PowerPoint presentation.
4. Apply their knowledge to create a excel worksheet, after a PowerPoint presentation.
5. Actively work cooperatively while conducting class activities.
6. Respect each other opinions when another person is talking, they should listen.

What is spreadsheet?
An electronic document in which data is arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be
manipulated and used in calculations.
Row
A row is a grouping of cells that run from the left to right of a page. Numbers are used to
designate each row’s location.
Column
A column is a grouping of cells that run from the top to the bottom of a page. Letters are used to
designate each column’s location.
Cell
A cell is a box in which you can enter a single piece of data. You can identify a cell with letters
and numbers
Formula
Is an expression telling the computer what mathematical operation to perform upon a specific
value.
Methodology
Engagement: Students will be engaged in the lesson through an online game of
mentimetre. They will be given the word Spreadsheet and they should type any word that
comes to their mind. After which students will formulate a definition for Spreadsheet.
Exploration: Students will be given five-minute to conduct research on the different terms that
is written on the board. After which, they will present their findings to the class.
Explanation: After the time given to the students to do their research, the teacher will call on the
students to present their findings by raising their hands and wait until the teacher call on them.
After which the teacher will then present a PowerPoint presentation to give the students a
description of each term, so that they can better understand each term.
Elaboration: Students will then be given a set of instructions to create a spreadsheet in pairs.
Students will be given 10 minutes to complete this activity. See Appendix A
Evaluation: To test students understanding of what was taught, the teacher will provide students
with a worksheet to complete. This activity is to be done to test students understanding of the
topic and to see if the teacher would need to go over any misconception that the students may
have. See appendix B

from A1 to D1.
2. Select cell A3 to A6 one at a time and enter the labels “January”, “February”, “March”
