Introduction
There has long been talk about how reflection might help management students grasp
concepts better or gain new perspectives. When the goal is to promote critical thinking within
increasingly complicated organisational environments in an emerging market economy, the
practise becomes even more crucial. In this post, I explore how reflection and reflective
practise might help to create a cadre of useful and effective managers, as well as how I utilise
reflection as a pedagogical technique for myself as an MBA student.

I was a member of the senior management that was disengaged and, as a leader of the
organisation, I was complicit in the performance management procedures. I've discovered
that I need to listen more and that the perspectives of all employees are valuable. I came to
the realisation that I will never know everything and that learning can only continue as long
as I am willing to broaden my horizons and assess my management style in light of various
scenarios. I became aware of the crucial traits I need to have in order to be a good leader after
thoroughly analysing the management procedures at the organisation. I was forced to recall
countless situations and incidents and consider whether I would have been able to behave
differently to change the outcome as a result of this process, which instantly started me
thinking about my own leadership style. You can always find a method to get better, no
matter how well you believe you're doing something. Then, you must be prepared to
implement those changes and must choose to view criticism of what you are currently doing
not as a negative but as an opportunity to learn and grow. In terms of being receptive to the
ideas and contributions of others, I have come a long way. Additionally, I've made strides in
growing my trust and belief in the competence of others. All of these abilities are necessary
for my position as manager. ‘ Making sure you don't put what you learn to the side because
you are simply too busy to consider how to apply it in your profession and in your life is one
of the biggest challenges of this MBA, I was reminded of that once more. I must keep it in
the forefront of my mind for the entire show, or much of this labour will be in vain. I will
need to develop as a leader, and since I am one, it implies that I have learned and will
continue learning most of my leadership competencies "on the job," as I am exposed to
various events and circumstances. I feel like I learned a lot about an organisation that I
thought I knew but didn't," the speaker said. I've always believed that large, international

corporations are the ones with the most difficulty managing their human resources because
doing so is so difficult. I never considered that a small business with only six to seven
employees would eventually experience difficulty with people management and
communication. "Conducting the study offered me the chance to find out how my coworkers
saw the company and to comprehend the intentions—or lack thereof—of various systems and
procedures." For instance, it was eye-opening to discover that the assessment system was
merely an attempt to measure some performance-related components, rather than being truly
built with the purpose to drive performance.
The fact that I could apply the research techniques I was learning in class to real-world
experience made this study the most intriguing to me. I came to see how crucial it was to
design questions so that the responses build upon one another. Before I begin my dissertation,
I need to conduct a lot more qualitative interviews. Up until this assignment, I had never truly
appreciated the benefits of a thorough literature study. It was difficult yet really insightful to
put all the literature together to form an argument. I liked how you grouped the trends and
analysed the results. My project partner is fairly skilled with MS Excel's analysis tools, so as
a result, I learned one or two things that will be helpful in my daily presentations.
Interviewing was done by me. I was able to use information and knowledge I had learned in a
highly theoretical way. It was energising for me to observe it in action. As opposed to a one-
or two-dimensional case study in class, I've discovered that tackling difficulties in the real
world is far more difficult. You may learn so much from individuals just by asking them what
they think and how they feel. This is amazing. I gained a tonne of knowledge on rewards and
motivation; otherwise, I never would have considered reading papers for proof. I now have
fresh perspectives on the subject of high-performance work habits and how they affect both
individual and organisational performance. My knowledge of multiculturalism, diversity, and
inclusion has considerably increased as a result of the project. After completing this
assignment, I finally realised that the majority of issues with people management could be
resolved with effective internal communication, consistent staff training and development,
and employee participation in decision-making. It was incredibly instructive, insightful, and
interesting to have my partner along with, and more importantly, his biased/unclouded
perspective of the organisation. I think it would have been very challenging for me to
approach this project with his fresh perspective if I had been working on it alone.
During the analysis, my companion was a great barometer. She shared insights from her own
company and suggested which procedures she thought were worthwhile and needed
improvement. She also contributed to the identification of potential improvement areas.

Contrary to what I first believed, my pair was a totally different individual. The journey was
wonderful because I met a wonderful person with a wonderful life story and a very different
point of view. What an amazing mind. I learned by working with a partner that I was not as
meticulous and specific in my job as I had believed. The person I've been matched with is
really understanding, will listen to my views, and will challenge me when necessary. We
occasionally disagreed on how to approach the paper, but we were considerate of one
another, and before the manuscript was finalised, there was agreement. My trust in my
partner quickly began to dwindle as he repeatedly missed deadlines to disclose important
pieces of the work for which he had been accountable. In addition, the quality of the work he
had supplied did not meet my standards for an MBA. I've always thought—and been told—
that I get along well with others. Unfortunately, this event made me realise that while I get
along with the majority of people, not everyone does.
