2. How many grams are in 0.200 ounces?
3. How many pounds does 5.00 kg of cheese weigh?
4. How many mL are in 0.70 quarts?
5. How many inches are in 2.00 km?
6. How many feet are in 5.45 km?
7. How many km are in 8.00 miles?
8. How many yards are in 72.5 miles?
9. How many cm are in 0.783 m?
10. How many meters are in 252 mm?
11. How many liters are in 2.52 x 104 mL?
12. How many mm is in 0.123 m?

B. Remember, 1 mL = 1 cm3.

1. What is the volume of 0.710 grams of solid substance?

2. Find the mass in grams of 0.327 liters of solid substance.

3. Find the volume in liters of 16.2 kg solid substance.

Activity 2:

A. The diagram shows a target board and four sets of hits on it, (A), (B), (C), and (D). The shots were all aimed at the
bull’s-eye of the target.
1. Which set of hits is both accurate and precise (A,B,C or D)?
Explain your answer.
2. Which set of hits is neither accurate nor precise? Explain your
answer.
3. Which set of hits is accurate but not precise? Explain your
answer.
4. Which set of hits is precise but not accurate? Explain your
answer.

B. The following measurements were made to determine the density of a material whose value was, according to
the handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 1.15 g/mL.
Trial #1 0.95 g/mL
Trial #2 1.16 g/mL
Trial #3 1.26 g/mL

a. Make a general comment on the accuracy of these results

b. Make a general comment on the precision of these results
c. What may have caused these results
C. The following measurements were made to determine the density of a material whose value was, according to
the handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 3.75 g/mL.

Trial #1 4.75 g/mL

Trial #2 4.76 g/mL
Trial #3 4.74 g/mL

a. Make a general comment on the accuracy of these results

b. Make a general comment on the precision of these results
c. What may have caused these results?

Activity 3:

A. Calculate the average and the uncertainty for each set of data:

B. b) The "true" value that we were attempting to measure was: 16.26. Which set of data is most precise? _______
Which was most accurate? _______

Activity 4:

A. From the given set of data, answer the following question.

1. Calculate the Uncertainty of Multiple Measurements by finding the mean,
variance and standard deviation.

Activity 5:

Solve this measurement with uncertainties

1. Gisselle and KC are acrobats. Gisselle is 165 + 2 cm tall, and KC is 135 +- 3 cm tall. If KC stands on top of
Gisselle's head, how far is her head above the ground?
2. Kavin wants to calculate the volume of his pool, so that he will knows how much water he'll need to fill it. He
measures the length, width, and height: L = 6.30 + 0.14 meters, width W = 4.10 + 0.08 meters and depth
D = 3.54 + 0.11 meters. To calculate the volume, he must multiplies together the length, width and depth.
3. Supposed you have pool and it is a perfect cube. You measured the length of one side to be L = 8.03 + 0.25
meters. What would be the volume of your pool? Hint: The formula to get the volume of a square is V= s 3
