THE TEACHER AS A PERSON
Name of FS Student: Ester A. Peralta
Course: Bachelor of Physical Education
Resource teacher: Christopher T. Castro
Cooperating School: Vicente D. Trinidad National High School

Your Reflection
1. Which view do you agree with? Expound
I agree with Teacher 3. Because she reiterated that her love of children and teaching
makes her do her passion more efficiently. She believes that when she combined her
passion for teaching and enjoyment doing it, she can easily and freely inculcates
knowledge to every learner she has.
2. This time it’s your turn to answer the three sentence completion items
a. My goal/s for my pupils/students is/are every teacher aims to the betterment of
their students in the different fields. My goals for my students/pupils are: to make
them be fully prepared for upcoming future, to help them realize that education is
very significant in human life and to let them understand that the best way for a
successful career is through education.
b. What I really want to teach to my pupils/students is/are the value and significance
of education for all, on how it can transform the life of every individual from a mere
student into a productive individual in the future.
c. I will teach pupils/students by giving them concrete ideas for every lesson that we have in
order for them to clearly visualize and understand it. Moreover, I will teach them by the process
of learning by doing because this is more appropriate in the transferring of learning.
What Philosophy do you adhere to? Why?
 To teach is to learn. Because everyone has its own learning capability, and in that,
we can always be a student, teacher and a thinker. For we know that a teacher
can also learn from students as much as they learn from the teachers.
Additional Enjoyable Reflection Activities:
1. Answer the following question and explain.
2. When you explain your answer, relate it to the kind of teacher you want to be.
3. Draw or illustrate your answer.

a. If you were a school (ruler, pencil, paper, etc.), what would you be? Why?
 If I were a school, I choose to be a PENCIL. A pencil that has its eraser and pen. As we
know that when we are writing something, and we accidentally wrote words not good, or
unnecessary words in a paper, we usually erase it, and change to something better. That’s how I
see myself as a teacher. That No matter how many times a student will get wronged, I will
continue to teach them and inculcate in their minds the correct learning and knowledge.

c. If you were a subjects (math, science, English, etc. ) what would you be? Why?
 If I were to become a subject, I want to become a HISTORY subject. Because I want to
teach my future students to always be aware of where they came from. As a quote says,
“kung di ka marunong tumingin sa iyong pinanggalingan, hindi ka makakarating sa iyong
patutunguhan”. Even when you became a most successful professional in the world,
always learn to humble yourself before others. Wag ipagyabang kung gaano kataas ang
iyong pinag-aralan dahil lahat ng yan ay lilipas din naman.

d. If you were a school furniture (table, chair, blackboard, etc.) What would you be?
Why?
 If I were school furniture, I choose to become a CHAIR. A chair that is used to be
someone’s comfortable leaning area. Because part of a teacher’s passion is to become a
second parent of a learner, and as a second parent of a learner, I want them to also share
their life stories, be comfortable with me, so that I can be able to handle them in any
aspects and issues they have in life and that I want to boost their potentials as well.

Your analysis

In what area of classroom management was the teacher most effective? Which of the
supportive measures were effective? Why?

 The discretion of the teacher to have a separate time schedule and vicinity or place
where the students will have to perform their activities which requires demonstration of skills
was the teacher’s most effective classroom management because in this way, the student’s
full potential to provide the best performances will be catered, thus the teacher is giving
justice to his/her students as to their understanding and learning of the lesson.

In what areas of classroom management was the teacher least effective? Which supportive
measurements were not effective?

 As I have learned from my visitation in the school where I conducted my interview, the
teacher’s classroom management with least effectiveness is in the physical environment of the
classroom itself because the whole class is composed of 55 students yet the classroom is not
suitable with this number and that it made it crowded.
However, this cannot be attributed solely to the teacher’s management since it
is already out the teacher’s hands but to the proper authorities who must had
provided the school premise with enough classroom space and resources to
cater the needs of the students.

Suggest more effective ways for your answer in number 2.

 The teacher must establish separate activities in a separate setting, like group activities
that are being performed in other classroom or sometimes outside the classroom apart from
the lecture settings, with the proper allocation of time to finish the required task or activity. A
certain activity is given at least 30 minutes for the students to comply the said activity.

Community Tour Observation Report

Name of the school served: Vicente D. Trinidad National High School

School Address: Ajat, Iguig, Cagayan

Date of Visit: October 25- December 17, 2021

Locality of the school

 The school is located along the national road heading to the Iguig Parish Church
and Calvary Hills. Its neighboring community composes of residential houses, convenience
stores that sometimes cater to the need of the students.

Some government institutions can be found in the community like the city health
office, public library, public market, public clinic, rural bank of the Philippines, and the
municipality hall of Iguig.
Issues/concerns/problems of the community
 School area is far from some parts of barangays in Iguig.
 Unclean environment(since they don’t have face to face learning brought by the
pandemic)
 Unventilated facilities(sorting facility for modules/learning materials)
Community resources:
 They assigned one person to get the learning materials in the school, and then
distribute it to every student, and when the students already done answering their
modules, the assigned collector will now collect it one by one and bring it back to
school premises, then get another set of learning materials and do the cycle every
week.
 Parents do the school brigade together with the teachers and other campus
officers.
Community assistance/service given by the school:
 Teachers go house to house and deliver the student’s materials/modules.
 They meet students virtually when needed especially when they have to discuss
some parts of the lessons.
Suggest new ways by which the school can creatively use the resource of the community.

 It is good for the students to have an exposure to other places like field trips or
community tour.

How can the school address the issues/concerns and problems of the community?

 The problems and concerns and issues of the community can be addressed by the
school through its participation in the different activities. The school can hold
symposiums in helping the community to be aware on how to properly educate
students even when they at home.

What possible linkages can the community and the schools have?

 The possible linkages that the community and the school have are brigadaeskwela, tree
planting, coastal clean-up and mangrove planting. During the Intramurals of the school,
there is parade and there are drummers coming from the school and they ask help
from the police station to cater them in the parade along the national road.

A GLOBAL CITIZEN, A FLOBAL TEACHER

By Fretzie Padolina Alcantara

(Article)

Modern times paved us the way for different technological advances that prevent to be very
helpful in our everyday living. Different technological advances created a new trend to satisfy
our thirst for modernism and high-tech living. With these new trends, our educational system
is also coinciding with this making learning more advanced through the use of modern devices.

The most common (and I think the most important invention in the 20th century) is the
computer. During those times computers are only used for computing and storing data, but
right now having a computer and knowing how to use it is just as necessary as having to put a
food on the plate for your dinner. Computers proved to be very helpful and useful for
education that integration has been the topic during seminars and workshops and how can we
utilize it to help our students face the world surrounded by modem technology.

It is true that technology has its plus and minuses. Others may also say that because of
technological advances, we are all teaching our children to become lazy and just depend on
the computer. Yet let us accept the fact that time has changed, our times are evolving and we
could no longer apply what we have learned in the previous years to the generation of today.
We should go with the flow. We just have to know our limitations in using these modern
technologies. These are made to make our life easier and comfortable. We are human beings
as we are given the mind so we can manipulate things accordingly.

Moreover, because of these trends in teaching, we also allow ourselves to grow. We are no
longer stagnant to the traditional methods. We are now more open to new ideas that would
not just increase our students learning but also ourselves. As we open ourselves to new fad,
we can no longer feel outcast. We are part of the modern world and we are now all ready to
face a more challenging role and that is to become the teacher of tomorrow’s youth. Why
would we keep ourselves inside a nutshell when we can explore the world? The world is at our
advantage, the world is waiting for us.

Furthermore being inclined with these technological advances, we must also know our
responsibilities. It is not every time that we have to let our students tinker the computer and
we would just sit back and relaxes knowing that the World Wide Web or www can provide the
much needed information. We could not just do that. We are not teaching them anymore. We
are feeding them with information that is not anymore filtered if they teach moral or ethical
values. Modern devices such as computers are only a tool for learning. It is not the one who
will teach us. It is still far more different than having a teacher in front who could explain the
information being fed to these young minds. We just have to remember that the best
computer in the world is our minds. We, the teachers, don’t just fed information nor just teach
these children the basics of addition and subtraction or the proper use of grammar, we also
touch their lives, we become a part of them, a part of their lives that could not just be erases
or deleted by just a click away. We remain in their hearts forever.

Given these facts, we are now more than ready to call ourselves not just modern teachers but
GLOBAL TEACHERS. Because global teachers do not just use modern ways of teaching or utilize
modern devices for improved learning, but also has a heart… a heart that tenderly cares for
every individual and a hand that gently holds every learner’s mind to be a great contribution
to the world. A student who is not just a product of modern world but can also considered a
GLOBAL CITIZEN OF THE WORLD.

And now a GLOBAL TEACHER, creating GLOBAL CITIZENS OF THE WORLD, what else could we
ask for more?

Below is a clip art essay on what a global teacher is. Examine each part of the clip art essay.
Think of a title for it. What message does it convey to you? Write a reflection on this.

By Melania Oribiana and Maria Rita Lucas, printed in the association for Childhood Education
International Philippines 35th anniversary Journal, 2006.

Title: One voice, One mission

Its message: A teacher’s mission is to cater the students in bringing their potentials in
contribution to the world’s betterment.

My reflection: We, teachers, should always be the “pusher” of the learners as we teach them
to become the better version of their selves. As we teach, we should also put in our minds that
the only mission we have is to bring out the potentials inside of them. From the title “One
voice, One mission” I can see here that a VOICE of a teacher is very important to every learner
because they can gain knowledge to what and how they are going to contribute(MISSION) to
the world.

Episode 5

The Teacher as a Professional

Name of FS student: Ester Alipio Peralta

Course: Bachelor of Physical Education Year and Section: 4A

Resource Teacher: Christopher T. Castro Signature:

Cooperating School: Vicente D. Trinidad High School

“Ignorance of the law excuses no one.” This is true for everyone. A true professional always
knows both his right and duties. These are two equal sides on the coin.

Do the following tasks:

Step 1: Gather information about the policies and guidelines concerning teachers, implement
by your cooperating school.

Step 2: Interview the principal/head teacher/your resource teacher about the implementation
of these policies and guidelines.
Step 3: Analyze the policies and guidelines in the light of values and pertinent laws.

Step 4: Reflect on the impact of all these to your future life as a full-fledged professional
teacher.

Your analysis:

1. What values are reflected by the policies and guidelines found in the school or teacher
manual. Put your answer in the matrix above. You may choose to put some additional
comments here.
 The values that are reflected by the policies and guidelines are respectfulness,
independence, responsible, justice and fairness, progression and discipline. These
values must be possessed by all teachers so as to avoid any conflict and for the teacher
to be called a good and effective teacher.

2. Cite the legal provisions/laws that are exemplified be each of the policies/guidelines
that you included in your matrix. To help you, focus on the provisions of the following.
a. Magna Carta for public school Teachers
b. Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers
c. Manual of Regulations for private school
d. Certain parts of the Labor code
e. Philippines Teachers professionalization act of 1994.

Write your additional comments here

 A deeper understanding of the rights, duties and responsibilities of a professional

teacher is of great help when we are on the field. Those rights, duties and
responsibilities will serve as our basis and guidelines so that we will be knowledgeable
and we will not be deceived by other officials when it comes to our rights. We can
apply our knowledge about the rights, duties and responsibilities of a professional
teacher when there are situations related to this in the future.

Your reflection

1. How do you feel about the policies and guidelines concerning teachers? How will you
do respond to them in the future?
 With regards to the policies and guidelines concerning teachers, I feel that it is really
necessary that we teachers must be committed, affectionate, and serious in teaching
students. I will respond to them in the future by becoming a good person or citizen
today so that we will become a good teacher someday. I should also abide by those
policies and guidelines in order for me to become a good teacher and a good citizen as
well.
2. What insights/realizations did you have about the “demand” of being a professional
teacher? How will you meet challenging “demands” in the future?
 As a teacher, I should always take responsibility to maintain professional growth and
maintain professionalism of my behaviors all the time. I should also ensure that I am
accountable for the efficient and effective learning of my students. I will accept and
meet these challenging demands in the future by associating and learning from positive
mentors, joining and attending a professional organization and having an extensive
body of knowledge about teaching and being a good decision maker to be able to
increase student learning.
3. What are your values and strengths that can help you become a true professional?
 My values and strength that will help me to become a true and good professional is my
passion, my love for whatever career that comes my way, my family status, and my
goals in life. I must use this as a tool for me to continue to pursue and reach my goals in
life. Determination is also one of my strength that may help me boost my potentials
and capabilities in the future.
