Solution

Section A
1. (b) co-prime
Explanation: co-prime
2. (a) 0
Explanation: The algebraic sum of the deviations of a frequency distribution from its mean is zero.
Let x1, x2, x3, ...xn are observations and is the mean
( - x1) + ( - x2) + ( - x3) + ...( - xn)
= n - (x1 + x2 + x3 + ...xn)
= n - n = 0
3. (d)
Explanation: Set A represents the elements which are greater or equals to 4 and the elements are real
no. A
Set B represents the elements which are less than 5 and are real no. B
So if we represent these two in number line we can see the common region is between 4(included) and
5(excluded).
4. (b) 20
Explanation:
Class Frequency Cumulative Frequency

65-85 4 4

85-105 5 9

N = 67 (odd)
= = = 34
Median class = 125-145
upper limit of the median class = 145

8. (a) The collection of most talented writers of India.
Explanation: The collection of most talented writers of India.
9. (c) 51
Explanation: Mean of 100 observation = 50
Total of 100 observation = 100 50 = 5000
If one of the observation 50 is replaced by 150 than total of new observation is = 5000 - 50 + 150 = 5100
Hence, the mean of new 100 obersvation = = 51

Hence
26. (c) 4, 11, 18, 25
Explanation: 4, 11, 18, 25
27. (d) 27
Explanation: Given that, ui = fiui = 20, fi = 100
Here assumed mean = 25 and class interval (h) = 10
= A + h = 25 + 10
= 25 + 2 = 27
28. (d) {2, 4, 6}
Explanation: We have , x + 2y = 8
y =
since, x and y are Natural numbers, So x must be an even number.
if x = 2, y = 3;
if x = 4, y = 2;
if x = 6, y = 1.
So, relation R = {(2, 3), (4, 2), (6, 1)}
Hence, the domain of R is {2, 4, 6}.

x + 2.5 = 27.5
x = 27.5 - 2.5
x = 25
32. (c) 400

Explanation:

= (9 + 11)2
= (20)2
= 400
33. (a) a contradiction
Explanation: Since
F F = F Since
Hence contradiction.
34. (b) {n(B)}n(A)
Explanation: {n(B)}n(A)
35. (c) is defined for all reals
Explanation: f(x) = x; g(x) = cos x
Df = R
Dg = R
Df+g = Df Dg
So,
Df+g = R
So given function is defined for all reals.
36. (a) centred at the class marks of the classes.
Explanation: In computing the mean of grouped data, the frequencies are centred at the class marks of
the classes.
37. (a) remain unaltered
Explanation: Volume: The amount of space that a substance or object occupies, or that is enclosed
within a container. From the definition of volume, Volume remains unchanged.
38. (d) 64
Explanation: 64
39. (a) Reflexive, transitive but not symmetric
Explanation: Let there be a natural number n,
We know that n divides n, which implies nRn.
So, Every natural number is related to itself in relation R.
Thus relation R is reflexive.
Let there be three natural numbers a, b, c and let aRb, bRc
aRb implies a divides b and bRc implies b divides c, which combinedly implies that a divides c i.e. aRc.

So, Relation R is also transitive.

Let there be two natural numbers a, b and let aRb,
aRb implies a divides b but it can't be assured that b necessarily divides a.
For ex, 2R4 as 2 divides 4 but 4 does not divide 2.
Thus Relation R is not symmetric.
40. (b) A
Explanation:

Section C
41. (a) x [2, 4)
Explanation: We have [x]2 - 5[x] + 6 = 0 [(x - 3)(x - 2)]= 0
[x] = 2, 3
For [x] = 2, x [2, 3)
For [x] = 3, x [3, 4)
x [2, 3) [3, 4)
or x [2, 4)
42. (a) 2.87

Explanation: We know the standard deviation of the first n natural numbers is

Now for first 10 natural numbers, n=10, substituting this in the above equation of standard deviation
we get

= 2.87
Hence the Standard deviations for first 10 natural numbers is 2.87

Explanation: 103

44. (c)

Explanation:
To practice more questions & prepare well for exams, download myCBSEguide App. It provides
complete study material for CBSE, NCERT, JEE (main), NEET-UG and NDA exams.
45. (c) 1
Explanation: This is because relation R is reflexive as (1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3) R.
Relation R is symmetric as (1, 2), (2, 1) R and (1, 3), (3, 1) R.
But relation R is not transitive as (3, 1), (1, 2) R but (3, 2) R.
Now, if we add any one of the two pairs (3, 2) and (2, 3) (or both) to relation R,
Then, the relation R will become transitive.
Therefore, the total number of desired relations is one.
