Sand Replacement Calculation

The document outlines the formulas used in the sand replacement method for cone calibration and calculating densities from soil samples. Key steps include measuring the weight of the sand apparatus before and after filling the cone or hole to determine the volume replaced, then using the sand unit weight to calculate volumes and densities based on sample weights. Percent compaction is calculated by comparing dry density of samples to maximum dry density from lab tests.
