In this tutorial you'll learn to search for assets, from VM, VMDR, and Asset Inventory. Presently, we are
in the "Assets" section of VM and VMDR. To get started, click the "Asset Search" tab.

The Asset Group named "All" is a commonly used search target. Click to open the "Asset Groups" drop-
down menu.

Asset Search provides multiple attributes and options for constructing a search condition or query.

Type "90" in the "days" field and then press "enter" or "return."

This condition will identify potentially retired or deactivated hosts; those that have not been
successfully scanned in 90 days. Click the "Search" button, at the bottom of the page

A list of "stale" hosts is now displayed. These assets may potentially be retired, making them
candidates for purging.

Purging can be performed by selecting targeted hosts and selecting "Purge" from the "Actions" menu.

The query condition that generated this list can be used to create an Asset Tag. Just right of the
"Actions" menu, click the "Create Tag" button.

We'll call this the "Stale Host" tag. Click the "OK" button.

The "Stale Host" tag will be added to all hosts that meet the query condition and can be used (moving
forward) to help identify and manage retired assets within your account.

The "Applications" tab provides a "searchable" inventory of software applications, discovered on
scanned hosts. Scans must be performed in "authenticated" mode, to successfully enumerate installed
software applications.

The "Ports/Services" tab, provides a "searchable" list of active services and ports discovered on
scanned hosts.
