Project For RC-1

The document provides information for designing a reinforced concrete slab and beam for a two-story office building. The slab carries 1.5 kN/m^2 of permanent loads from finishes, ceilings, and services, and variable loads according to EN 1991 standards. The slab and beam are to be constructed of C25/30 concrete and Grade 500 reinforcement, with a concrete density of 25 kN/m^3. The task is to design the slab and a beam along axis 3, showing appropriate detailing for both.

RC-1, Project-1 (30%)

Figure indicated below shows part of the floor plan of a reinforced concrete
slab on a G+1 office building. The slab carries characteristic permanent action
of 1.5kN/m2 (excluding self-weight) of finishes, ceiling and services and
characteristic variable action can be referred on ES EN 1991. The construction
materials considered for the concrete consist of Grade C25/30, whereas, for
steel reinforcement consist of Grade 500. The density of concrete is taken as
25 kN/m3. You may ignore the roof loads for frame analysis.

i. Design the slab (appropriate detailing must be shown)

ii. Design the beam along axis-3 (appropriate detailing must be shown)
