Title: Waste isn't waste until we waste
Introduction:
Waste segregation is a crucial aspect of environmental sustainability and public health. It
involves separating waste materials into different categories, such as recyclable, organic, and
hazardous, to optimize their disposal and minimize their impact on the environment and human
health. In this proposal, we will argue that waste segregation is an effective and feasible solution
to the problem of waste management and pollution. Through analyzing the benefits, challenges,
and strategies of waste segregation, we will discuss how it can lead to a cleaner, healthier, and
more sustainable world. In the following pages, we will first examine the benefits of waste
segregation, then discuss the challenges and solutions of implementing it, and finally present
some examples and case studies of successful waste segregation programs.

a. Type of Community Project
We plan to advocate our waste segregation project, which aims to collect recyclable
materials from household chores. In this activity, we want to encourage a new and effective
waste segregation project in our community that will convert plastic materials to eco-bricks while
the food waste into an organic fertilizer mixed with animal manures. Since one of the common
problems in our barangay is the waste segregation methods used by our residents, we find
them very destructive and impractical.
b. Project Background
The inspiration of our group is the work of Nestle Philippine’s facility in Lipa City
Batangas, wherein they used 3,500 EcoBricks to create a 100-square-meter multi-purpose
building in 2015. The primary materials used were two and a half kilos of plastic sheets in every
one EcoBrick. Plastics are among the wastes available in our community, which is why they can
be used as part of our community project, which is free of charge and can be an excellent
solution for making a sustainable alternative to hollow blocks.
On the other hand, the peels from fruits and vegetables can be transformed into a compost pit
by allowing them to undergo the normal decaying process until they become part of the soil and
serve as a primary source of plant nutrients. Instead of buying expensive fertilizers, the
residents can include this in their routine if the community is consistent in its information
dissemination drive towards making organic fertilizers.
c. The goal of the " Waste Segration " Project.
To lessen the risks to the environment and human health brought on by
the careless disposal of garbage and the contaminating of natural resources
including the land, sea, and air.
To prevent pollution and contamination from harming our ecosystem, and
to repair and lessen the harm that pollution has already done. Waste that is
improperly disposed of can hurt individuals and cause a number of ailments.
To determine the key obstacles or challenges in eliminating plastic from
manufacturing or home waste.
d. Project Description
Thrown-away waste not only contributes to flooding but also kills fish in the waters
because it is consumed by them. Because of this, participants in the "Waste segregation"
initiative support one another and provide examples of how to properly dispose of waste in each
container. and the distinction between perishable and non-perishable items.
e. Duration of the Project
We started working on our project on June 1, 2023, and we plan to finish it on June 24,
2023. We want to keep working on it to help the environment and include it in our daily lives.
f. Target Beneficiaries
The Target users are everyone, businesses, industry, and government. It can also
inspire individual to recycle plastic and make something very useful out of them, rather than
discarding them. People will have a chance to participate in the project we develop. Community
exchange program - one ecobrick in exchange for two and half kilos of plastic sachets. For large
construction projects, inquire for project quote. We will have a better life since we'll reach a less
polluted environment with cleaner air.

h. Monitoring and Evaluation
We will use individual reports to
assess and track our project-related observations, and a summative report will be provided to
show whether the project was successful.
Individual Reports:
Dumas, Maris
Through this project, I have come to appreciate the importance of waste
management and the role it plays in preserving our environment. This project gave me a
new perspective on how we can repurpose plastic waste and fruit and vegetable peels in
a way that benefits the community. I realized that simple acts such as segregating our
waste and using materials like EcoBricks can have a significant impact in reducing our
carbon footprint and promoting sustainable living. Moreover, I understand that by turning
compostable waste into organic fertilizers, we promote a circular economy, where the
soil is healthier, and plants grow better. I am proud to be a part of this project and
strongly believe that our collective efforts can help create a cleaner, greener, and
healthier environment for future generations.
Adsuara, Liezel
Through this project, I have grown to understand and value the ease with which a clean
environment and nature may be felt. We will all feel more at ease and prevent flooding
and other problems that can result from improper rubbish disposal if we all work together
to maintain our environment clean.

Roan, Kraish Kriston
Tañola, Amiel Justine
I realized after this project we did about importance of having concern and aware
to our environment. You may recycle and repurpose any plastic bottle, plastic bags and
many trash that you may have. It is now evident that this project helps not only for our
environment but also can help and become a business of others. This ecobrick is an
excellent way to protect the environment and help the rest of the globe at the same time.
A rising awareness of the extent of plastic pollution, the issues it creates, and the
incapacity of industrial ways to manage plastic waste effectively has given rise to this
project ecobrick.
