Value Chain + Value Shop Model

This document discusses Porter's value chain analysis model and the value shop model. It explains that Porter's model categorizes a firm's activities as either primary or secondary. Primary activities directly involve transforming inputs into outputs, such as inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales, and service. Secondary activities support primary activities and include procurement, technology development, human resource management, and firm infrastructure. The value shop model also has support activities but defines primary activities as problem finding, problem solving, choosing solutions, and execution/evaluation. The document outlines benefits and criticisms of value chain analysis and introduces the value shop model.
