Climate Fact Check June 2023 Edition v3

This document fact checks 10 climate change claims from June 2023. It finds that: 1) Canadian forest fires darkening U.S. skies are not new and wildfires there have generally declined since 1980. 2) Texas heat waves preceded climate change and have declined in intensity over the past 90 years. 3) Florida strawberry harvests have increased by 50% since 2001 despite claims of declining yields. 4) Hot summers in the U.S. were more common before 1940 and have declined since the 1930s. 5) The conclusion questions how June 2023 could be cooler than June 1988 which directly contradicts predictions of increasing temperatures due to rising CO2 levels.

CLIMATE FACT CHECK: JUNE 2023 EDITION

June 23, 2023 marked the 35th anniversary of Dr. James Hansen’s front-page Senate testimony formally
launching climate idiocy.

But Hansen’s predictions haven’t panned out so well. A point-by-point fact check of it is here.

Ten more false climate claims from June have already gone bust and are presented below.

We’ll close out by returning to James Hansen’s June 1988 testimony.

As it turns out, June 2023 was 1.53°F cooler in the U.S. than June 1988.

It would be interesting to hear Dr. Hansen explain how June 2023 could possibly so much cooler
than June 1988 despite a doubling of industrial era atmospheric CO2. Though pinged for a response
via Twitter, so far not a peep from him.

Until next month...
