Footnotes: Where ever applicable
Index: Must include copy of the original forms used in
the organization. (Separate annex should be
mentioned)
Bibliography: Must include books, articles, and persons from
where the quotes/data/information is taken.
Glossary: Define “JARGONS” used in the report.

1.3 Organizational structure
1.3.1 Describe the structure of overall organization in terms of reporting lines also
showing the respective authorities and responsibilities. The chart of the
organization must be attached as annexure in the end of the report.
1.4 The organization structure of the branch in which the student is carrying
internship should be discussed separately and the chart of the branch should also be
attached as annexure.
1.5 Review of the various departments of the overall organization in terms of their
functions and responsibilities, etc.
1.6 Nature of the organization: What kinds of business activities are performed by the
organization? Business volume in terms of revenue, deposits, advances, investments, etc.
Quote figures for latest / last five years and analyze the trend.
1.7 Product lines (Description of the various products/ services offered by the
organization)
2. Structure and functions of the Accounts/Finance Department
2.1 Describe the structure of the Accounts or Finance Department (whichever
exists in the organization) in terms of reporting lines also showing the
respective authorities and responsibilities. The organogram of the Accounts or
Finance Department should be attached as annexure in the end of the report.

2.3 Finance & Accounting operations: Describe the working of Finance and
Accounts department (How are accounting information generated, recorded
and used? Give practical illustration).
2.4 The role of Financial Managers in establishing/maintaining relationships with
other financial institutions in terms of accounts, cash management and credit
management, etc. The role of CFO may be discussed as an overall financial manager.
3. Financial Decision Making and Use of Electronic Data
3.1 Describe the different types of software being used by the organization. Also discuss
the different types of reports being produced for management use.
3.2 Sources of funds (Quote figures for latest five years from financial statements with
analytical comments).
3.3 Generation of funds (Quote figures for latest five years from financial statements with
analytical comments)
3.4 Allocation of funds (Quote figures for latest five years from financial statements with
analytical comments)
3.5 Mobilization of funds (Only for Financial Management Students, Quote figures for
latest five years from financial statements with analytical comments)
3.6 Critical analysis of the theoretical concepts relating to practical experiences i.e. relate
the theoretical concepts with practical experience during Internship.
4 Financial analysis
4.1 Give five latest years Balance Sheet in a single table form
4.2 Give five latest years Income Statement in a single table form
4.3 Ratio analysis for last five years. Calculate at least 20 ratios and analyze each ratio by
giving specific reasons that why any ratio increases or decreases from period to period.
4.4 Horizontal analysis of balance sheet for the last five years. Take one base year and
compare all the four years to the base year. Analyze the trends of the calculation of
horizontal analysis by giving specific reasons that why any item increases or decreases
from period to period.
4.5 Horizontal analysis of income statement for the last five years. Take one base year
and compare all the four years to the base year. Analyze the trends of the calculation of

horizontal analysis by giving specific reasons that why any item increases or decreases
from period to period.
4.6 Vertical analysis of balance sheet for last five years. Analyze the trends of the
calculation of vertical analysis by giving specific reasons that why any item increases or
decreases from period to period.
4.7 Vertical analysis of income statement for the last five years. In case of banks take
interest income plus non-interest income as 100% and compare all other income
statement figures with it. Analyze the trends of the calculation of vertical analysis by
giving specific reasons that why any item increases or decreases from period to period.
5 Organizational Analysis (SWOT Analysis) with reference to other firms of same
industry.
5.1 Compare the organization with its competitors/peers in terms of total assets,
liabilities, profitability, etc.
5.2 Future prospects of the organization. This should be based on the overall
analysis/evaluation of the organization by the students and should be supported by the
management’s vision/strategy for the future.
5.3 Identify weaknesses of the organization with main focus on financial management.
Based on the overall analysis of the organization, highlight the weak areas that need
management attention.
6. Learning as a Student Intern (preferably in accounting and finance department)

Note: This is a broad outline the interns are allowed to include other learning
experiences in their report

Internship Weekly Report Format

Note: Weekly reports should be submitted on a specific day of the week. That day will
be mutually decided by the faculty advisor and the intern. This weekly report should be
composed and written in M.S. OFFICE (Microsoft word, Excel etc) and sent to the
faculty advisor by way of an attachment to e-mail. The format of attached document: title
should look like this: “WR1Name if student.doc.” The next weekly report should be titled
as WR 2, and so on until reach weekly report number 06 and/or 08 for the internship
program.

Below is an example of weekly report

Please note the following parts of the report:


a) Personal information-WR1 along with your name, semester, course, name
of the organization and the calendar date for the week.

b) Report must include the number of hours, date and the day of the week in
bold.

Remember you will have a space in the last part of the form to give your feedback
and reactions to the week.

Note: Keep these reports in safe custody and turn in at the end of the semester.

The presentation should highlight the major sections of your written Department of
Economics Internship Report. The presentation should be in Multi Media and follow the
suggested format below:

1. Title (1 slide): Your name, the host organization, and your job title.
2. Introduction (1 slide): Mission statement or background of the host organization.
3. Objective of Internship (1 slide)
4. Methods, Skills, and Technology (3 to 4 slides)
5. Results (3 to 4 slides)
6. Conclusion (1 to 2 slides)
7. Graphics (1 to 5 slides): Include photographs of you working in the field, maps,
report covers, diagrams, and other photographs as necessary to augment your
presentation.
