SKRIP GWP - Edited

The document presents a product called the Pollutant Barricade System (GWP) which is designed to minimize river pollution. The GWP is made from recycled plastic bottles and uses a simple design of a single layer of floating bottles with valves on opposite ends to trap rubbish during high and low tides, preventing it from flowing back into rivers and seas. Data collected after implementing GWP in several rivers showed improved water quality over time, as the time for a solution to decolorize increased and pH levels became more neutral. The GWP is an affordable and effective way to tackle river pollution using recycled materials.

SKRIP GWP

1. INTRO SEKOLAH - BAT

Hi and assalamualaikum.
My name is Batrisya Humaira and these are all my teammates and we are from SMK
Pengerang Utama, Pengerang Johor. Today we are going to present about THE
POLLUTANT BARRICADE SYSTEM OR GWP.

2. INTRO PRODUCT - BAT

Before we start, do you know that a river is a natural waterway on the earth’s
surface? Naturally, all rivers and channels are clean and free from any pollution but
nowadays, our rivers have been polluted by domestic and industrial waste. Because
of that we have created a product that can solve the problem which is the Pollutant
Barricade System. In other words, we can call it GWP. The GWP is the rubbish trap
made by recycled plastic bottles to minimize a river pollution during the high and low
tides.

3. PROBLEM STATEMENT - TAN

In the past, human activities had caused the river to be flooded with rubbish and it
contributed to water pollution in the area.
Uncontrolled rubbish and out of control toxic waste that have been dumped from
industries are the example of the unhealthy activities happened all over the world.
These problems can be solved by GWP.

4. OBJECTIVE - TAN
There are many objectives of our products which are:
-To help minimizing the river pollution
-To save the aquatic lives and
-To foster the 3R culture(reduce, reuse and recycle)among the community

5. TARGETED USER - TAN

the targeted users for our GWP are the community at large as our project suits the
community very well and our aim is to increase healthy living among the society.

6. LITERATURE REVIEW - ONG

Before the project started, an investigation had been carried out and we found that
there were similar projects done by private companies that have the same function
as our project. The obvious differences are the design and the materials used for the
project. Commonly, the materials used are PVC, concrete, iron and aluminium which
needed high cost. Meanwhile, GWP only uses recycled PET1 plastic bottles and
requires low cost.
Besides that, the characteristics of materials that others used are fragile, not durable,
easily decay and get rust. The designs of the other rubbish traps are not flexible and
only suitable for one way water flow. This is because the design of their projects only
consists of a single layer of PVC or iron only.
In comparison to our product, GWP has a single layer of floating bottle with a flexible
and affordable design that helps to trap and prevent rubbish from flowing back into
the sea and rivers during high and low tides.
in addition, our product applies 3R concept which are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
This shows that our product is much better than the others.

7. METHODOLOGY (CARTA) - ONG

In the process of making our product, we use 3 methods which are planning tools,
experiment and science concept.
The planning tools that we use are PDCA concept and Ishikawa Diagram.
Next, for the experiment, there are BOD test and pH test.
Lastly, we apply the concept of human heart valves
as our science concept.

8. PDCA - WAN
In order to ensure that our project is under manageable condition, we used PDCA
concept which are P stands for plan, D stands for Do, C stands for check and A
stands for Action.

9. ISHIKAWA - WAN
The other methods that we used for our product is Ishikawa diagram to determine
the causes that contribute to the production of GWP. Lacking of awareness and
irresponsibility had led to the river pollution. For measurement, there are BOD test
and pH test. Next, for method there is inefficient disposing method. For the mother
nature, the cause is river pollution system. after that, the rubbish and seaweeds are
include in materials factor. Lastly, lack of river cleaning services and unsystematic
discharge of rubbish from ships and villages are the two main causes.

10. DESIGN - BAT

In the beginning, we sketched the model of our GWP.
The first design of our project had consisted of a single layer of recycled PET1 floating
bottles.
Then, we revised the design of our project that uses a single layer of floating bottles and
two valves at the opposite ends. Unfortunately, the trapped rubbish flowed back to the
sea.
Finally, we came out with a revised version that consisted of a single layer of floating
bottles and two pairs of valves on the opposite side. This design works effectively and trap
the rubbish from flowing back to the sea and river.

11. SCIENCE CONCEPT - ONG

The GWP valves created is derived from the concept of human heart valves and it is
placed on the opposite side of single layer of floating bottles. When the rubbish is
trapped at the single layer of floating bottles, the rubbish will be blocked by the valve
and will not flow back.

12. MATERIAL - ACAP

The materials that we used in our project are
plastic bottles, ropes nets and bricks

13. PROCEDURE - ACAP

Next, let's move on to the procedure in the making of GWP.
First of all, the plastic bottles are tied with a rope.
Then the bottles are arranged in two rows and are tied together.
After that, they are attached with the poly pipe to the plastic bottles.
a net is also tied to the bottles
and lastly a brick was tied to the net to prevent it from moving afloat easily.

14. DEMO PRACTICAL - ACAP + TAN

15. HOW GWP WORKS - BAT

Now, we will show you how GWP works. First of all, after we launch the GWP in the
river, we can see that all the rubbish will trap at the single layer of floating bottles.
Based on the design, it is clearly shown that by building the valves on the opposite
side will successfully trap the rubbish and prevent it from flowing back into the sea
and river during high and low tides.

16. IMPLEMENTATION - VIDEO

17. DATA & DISCUSSION - BAT

We conducted BOD test once a month to record the time taken for methylene blue
solution to decolorize. Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) is an indicator to
determine the water quality.

We have collected some data based on the implementation of GWP from several
rivers.
This is the data of BOD test in 2008 to 2011 at Sungai Hj Ahmad.
Next is the data of BOD test in 2012, to 2014 after we launched the GWP at Sungai
Cikung.
Then, this is the BOD test in 2015 to 2017 at sungai Kg Rengit
Lastly, this is the BOD test in 2018, to 2020 at Sungai Punggai.
The result shows that after the launch of GWP in several rivers, the time taken for
methylene blue to decolorize had increased.
Based on the statistic, we can conclude that the water quality is improved.

Next, this is the data of pH test in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 at Sungai Hj Ahmad.
Next, this is the data of pH test in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 after launch GWP at
Sungai Cikung.
Then, this is the pH test in 2016, 2017 and 2018 at sungai Kg Rengit
Lastly, this is the pH test in 2019, 2020 and 2021 at Sungai Punggai.
The data shows that by launching GWP, the pH test had increased and become
neutral. That means the water quality is improved.

18. MANUFACTURING COST - WAN

The manufacturing cost comparison between the Rubbish trap available in the
market and our GWP was made.
As u can see, our GWP uses cheaper materials to manufacture whereas the rubbish
trap available in the market uses expensive materials.
The cost for the rubbish trap in the market is RM35,000 while our GWP only cost
RM70.

19. SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT - WAN
The significant improvement between the rubbish trap available in the market and
our GWP was made.
As the diagram shows, our GWP uses low-cost materials and its durability will last
more than 10 years. However, the rubbish trap available in the market uses high-
cost materials and only durable up to 5 years.
Besides that, GWP emphasizes the 3R concept by using PET! plastic bottles which
are not easily decay while other rubbish trap uses concrete as a foundation that can
easily decay.

Next let’s move on to the novelty of our GWP. The GWP has a variety of functions
which are
helping to minimize the level of pollution in the selected river,
assisting in trapping the high quantity of rubbish effectively and
last but not least, fostering the 3Rs concept among community.
22. CONCLUSION - ONG
As a conclusion, The GWP helps to minimize the level of river pollution in several
rivers.
In fact, our rubbish trap can effectively trap high quantity of rubbish because of the
design. Our design consists of a single layer of floating bottles and two pairs of
valves at the opposite ends. This design has successfully trapped rubbish from the
sea and the river during low and high tides. It is clearly shown that the presence of
the valves at the opposite side will prevent rubbish from flowing back to the sea.

In order to enhance GWP and also to improve further, studies and investigations will
be continued. The invention will be upgraded to obtain the best result and increase
the efficiency.
