Quantity of thickener wherever mentioned can be changed as per the
requirements of product.

1. Liquid Dishwash
Process: first take LABSA ( acid slurry) mix water and neutralise with caustic soda to ph 7. In
water add disodium EDTA ,preservative( CMIT/MIT) then add SLES ,CDEA then add
neutralised acid slurry and add citric acid to make ph 6 after this add perfume and add salt ,
colour.
Note: in all formulations please note that amount of caustic soda can be different as per the
quality of Acid Slurry and same way quantity of salt can be different based on the requirement
of viscosity and quality of acid slurry and SLES. So always first prepare small sample batches
and after satisfaction go for large batch.
Always add salt in the end , wait for 24 hours to see how viscous it is.

Dear manufacturers use this book to make quality products, but how to use it to the best. You
should try to understand the ratios of different chemicals in a formula and should try to use
these ratios to check your existing formulas. Donot try to change everything in your
formulations. You should first do the costing of any formulation you want ot make from this
book then try to adjust the formulation as per your market costing requirements by diluting it
and adding the thickener if needed.
Maintain the best manufacturing practices as the process of manufacturing is very important.
Keep the vessels clean and disinfect them by using dilute solution of formaldehyde so that the
bacteria don’t pose a problem to your products. If the water content is more try to add some
preservative to it . Preservetive should be used as per the PH of the product . some common
preservetives are:
DMDM hydantoin----for ph range 3-8
Neolon MXP------ for ph range 2-10
BIT-----for ph range 4-12
Methyl paraben , propyl paraben---- for ph range 3-8
CMIT/MIt---- for ph range 6-9
Always use non iodine salt. Always first add salt in water then add it to the mixture.
Always first neutralise the small quantity of acid slurry /LABSA with caustic soda to check
how much caustic is needed for the quality of acid slurry you have. Always neutralise the acid
slurry slowly and try to keep the temperature below 55-60 degree for better results.
Always mix the different chemicals one by one by mixing the chemicals completely.
Always check small quantity of thickener in small batch , to check the effectiveness and
comptability of the thickener. Thickeners like HPMC & HEC, carbomer are commonly used
In liquid detergent you can use enzyme blend also in place of the different enzymes but try to
understand from supplier if these have stabilisation chemicals in it or these are to added .
Anti redeposition polymer can be added to Liquid detergent .
Always get the technical datasheet of the chemicals you use so that you know the exact details
of the chemicals.
All the best for your future.
