1. General

..
1.1 Range of application With the mobile test bench PV 1236, the following settings and measure-
ments can be carried out on electric actuators:

..
Calibration of the torque switches
Setting of the stroke or swing angle

.
Measuring the output speed
Testing of the switch functions
Setting of the analogue position signals (PV 788 B)
The max. torque is 500 Nm (option 1000 Nm), thus AUMA multi-turn actua-
tors SA 07.1 - SA 14.5 (option SA 16.1) and part-turn actuators SG 05.1 -
SG 07.1 (option SG 10.1 and SG 12.1) can be tested and calibrated.
1.2 Unit design and scope The mobile test bench consists of three separate units:
of delivery
Service unit PV 788 B
The unit can be used to provide mains supply and control of the actuator,
and also for measuring of all relevant electrical values.
The electrical connection to the actuator is realised via the standard AUMA
plug / socket connector. For actuators with other electrical connections, e.g.
explosion-proof actuators with terminal connections, adapters are required
which can be supplied on request.

7.1 STOP switch By pushing the Emergency-Stop switch, the control of the main contactors
and the DC power supply is interrupted. This completely isolates the actua-
tor under test from the mains supply.

7.2 Illuminated push-button This button has two functions:

Lamp test - ready 1) The green indication light signalises that the device is ready for operation
(green lamp is illuminated = ready for operation).
2) The service unit permanently monitores the 3 phases of the mains sup-
ply. In the event of failure of one of the phases, the service unit switches off
and the ready-lamp is no longer illuminated. The service unit changes to
fault mode (refer to sub-clause 7.7). The fault can be cancelled by checking
the mains supply.
If the rotating field is counter-clockwise, this is corrected automatically by
the service unit.

When button ‘Lamp test’ is operated, all indication lights and LED’s on the
front panel should be illuminated.

7.3 Illuminated push-button The actuator can be operated via the service unit as well as via remote con-
LOCAL - REMOTE trol. When operated via the service unit, the LOCAL-REMOTE indication
switch-over light is not illuminated.
When operated via remote control, the switches OPEN and CLOSED are
inoperative.

The STOP function for setting of the limit switches is only effective in
combination with the remote control.

7.4 Illuminated push-button With this button the thermal contacts or the PTC-thermistors of the actuator
Bypass Th can be by-passed (lamp on). This is imperative if the actuator is equipped
with a purchased motor without a thermal contact.

For motors without thermo switches or PTC thermistors there is a dan-

ger of thermal overloading of the motor.

7.5 Illuminated push-button With this push-button it is possible to pre-select whether the actuator under
CLOSE (WSR), CLOSE (DSR) test is to be switched off by torque seating (DSR) or limit seating (WSR).
Button pushed and lamp ON stands for torque seating.
Note:
The switching state of the torque and limit switches is indicated via the
LED’s (refer to section 7.10).

17
Mobile test bench PV 1236 Operation instructions

7.6 Illuminated push-button In push-to-run operation, button pushed, white lamp illuminated, actuator
push-to-run/continuous only runs while a run command is given via the buttons ”OPEN/CLOSE”.
operation In continuous operation, the actuator runs after a run command via the but-
tons ”OPEN/CLOSED” until it is stopped by the button ”STOP” or it reaches
an end position.

7.7 Illuminated push-buttons Prior to operating the buttons “OPEN-STOP/Fault-CLOSE” limit or torque
OPEN, STOP/Fault, CLOSE seating should be selected.
The actuator can, while in local control mode, be run in the desired direction
or stopped via the three push-buttons.
When the end positions OPEN or CLOSED are reached, the respective
lamp is illuminated.
The red lamp ”Fault” is illuminated in the event of a fault of the end position
tested or when the torque switch is tripped in mid-travel.
The green lamp ”OPEN” signalises that the actuator is in end position
”OPEN”.
The yellow lamp ”CLOSED” signalises that the actuator is in end position
”CLOSED”.

7.8 Push-button Selection With the push-button ”Selection” the individual measuring values can
and push-button Enter be indicated in turn on the display and entered with the push-button
”Enter”.

7.9 Display Different measuring values (refer to operation instructions PV 788 B) can be
indicated in turn on the display.
The measuring range is set automatically. A wrong selection of measuring
values can lead to the indication of dashes on the display. A comparison
terminal plan / legend KMS TP . . . and the position transmitter should be
made.
Damage of the actuators under test through wrong selection is impossible.

7.10 LED End position indication The LED’s show the switching state of the individual end switches.

Green LED is illuminated = NC contact closed

Yellow LED is illuminated = NO contact closed

The designation of the LED’s can be seen on the appropriate actuator

terminal plan.

To test the torque and limit switches, turn the relevant red test buttons in the
switch compartment (remove cover, refer to operation instructions of the ac-
tuator) in the direction of the arrow. To avoid tripping of the end switches,
the actuator should prior to this be run to an intermediate position between
the end switches.

The following should be observed for the test:

Test of DSR:
• Switch on torque seating (refer to section 7.5 ).
• If you run the actuator to end position ”CLOSED”, the yellow LED DSR
NO (4; figure 16) is not illuminated, as WSR switches earlier for
signalisation.

Test of DÖL:
• If the red test button DÖL is operated, the green LED DÖL NC (6; figure
16) goes out and the yellow LED DÖL NO (8; figure 16) is lit. At the same
time, the green LED WÖL NC (14; figure 16) goes out without a tripping
