Passive Sentences (Present Tense)


• We use the Passive:
* when the action is more important than the agent (the person who does the action.)
* when the performer of the action is not important or not known.
* when the performer is people in general.

Passive Form am/is/are + V3 + (by) - We form a Passive sentence with the


verb be and the past participle (V3) of the main verb of the active
sentence. If we want to say who does the action, we use by.

• People celebrate Tomorrowland Festival every June.
He Tomorrowland Festival is celebrated every June.
