General Classification of Metal Processes

There are two main categories of metal processes: bulk forming and metal sheet forming. Bulk forming involves massive deformation that changes the shape or cross section of an object, such as forging, rolling, extrusion, and drawing. Metal sheet forming produces flat metal sheets using tensile or shear forces, like bending, deep drawing, and punching. Industrial design is the creative solution for how a product will look when manufactured, considering elements like shape, configuration, and color that determine its uniqueness. Certain designs are excluded if caused solely by function or if contrary to public interests.

General classification of metal processes

 There are two main categories in which to divide metal forming processes. They are
"bulk forming" and "metal sheet forming," respectively.
BULK FORMING
 A metal process wherein a material undergoes a massive deformation that results in a
huge change in terms of the shape or cross section of an object.

Some of the bulk forming processes include:

 Forging It is a process in which an object is subjected to compressive and tensile forces,

shaping it into finished parts by using a die and punch.
 Rolling It is a process that can be carried out in hot and cold conditions by turning an object
over and over on an axis. This process is used for producing semi-finished products such as bars
and sheets.
 Extrusion is a process that can be done in both hot and cold conditions. It is a process
that involves pushing of a raw material through a narrow opening of constant cross-
section or varying cross-section in order to reduce the diameter and increase the length.

 Drawing is a process that uses tensile forces to produce small-diameter wires.

METAL SHEET FORMING

 It is a metal process in which the final shape of an object or part is a flat metal sheet. It
mainly involves the process of tensile or shear forces.

Some of the metal sheet forming processes include:

 Bending is a process in which a sheet of metal is placed over a die block, at which point
a punch-presses down onto the sheet metal.
 Deep drawing is a process that uses tensile and compressive forces to force a sheet of
metal into a hollow-shaped cup without altering its thickness.
 Punching is a sheet metal forming process that involves the use of a punch and die set to
create holes in sheet metal.

Material Design Rules and Other Industrial Processes

What is industrial Design?

A product's creative and design solution, which decides how it will look when it is
manufactured industrially or by hand, is referred to as an industrial design. If it is brand-new and
unique, the industrial design is protected by law.
The industrial design is considered unique if its key elements dictate the inventiveness of
the product's features. Shape, configuration, ornamentation, and color combination are examples
of notable characteristics.

The main points to avoid when designing:

1. caused solely by the products' technical function;

2. architectural objects (except small architectural forms), industrial, hydraulic engineering,
and other stationary structures,
3. unstable objects made of liquid, gaseous, loose, or similar substances;
4. products that are contrary to the public interest, the principles of humanity and morality.
