EXT. EMPTY STREETS – (NIGHT) – STATIC SHOT

RYAN – 21, demonologist, Ryan’s wearing a hoodie and joggers. The

hoodie has been ripped up the arm and you can see up to his elbow
and there is dirt all over the hoodie and his joggers. He’s holding
an old tape recorder.

Views of empty streets and back alleys dimly lit by streetlamps. We

then see RYAN with his hood up, holding an old tape recorder.
Running from something.

Ryan turns into a back alley. As he’s walking down the alley, he’s
looking over his shoulder, checking if it’s following him. His
breathing is laboured and panicked.

RYAN
I’ve tracked it to this spot. But I’ve lost it again…

Ryan walks off down the alley by himself. A shadow passes behind
him, Ryan turns a corner unknowing of it following him.
As Ryan keeps walking, he finds signs and clues to where it is. He
keeps following them until it leads him through the town and out
the other side.

He’s at the entrance to the woods and goes in to keep looking for
it. Ryan walks into the dark woods with hesitation. He doesn’t know
it’s already watching him walk in the woods.

RYAN
I feel like I’m getting closer, this feels like a place where
this thing would be.

Ryan is walking through the woods, he hears a snap and stops, but
doesn’t turn around out of fear. After he stands there for a bit
and nothing happening, he continues walking in the woods. Ryan
keeps walking down the trial, in darkness. Losing his footing as he
can’t see where he’s going. As he is walking, his torch starts to
flicker. He hits it in hope that it doesn’t turn off. After a while
of walking, it dies.

Ryan
Typical.
He then keeps walking after trying to turn the torch on multiple
times. After walking for a while, Ryan takes a break. He then sees
that the trail he’s been on has split off in two directions. He
picks the left trail.

Ryans keeps looking over his shoulder hoping nothing is there when
he looks. We can see the shadow following parallel to Ryan. He sees
this and starts running. The shadow matches his speed and keeps
following him. Ryan then trips and gets knocked unconscious.

Ryan starts to wake up to being dragged but fades in out of

consciousness. He remembers being dragged past two brick pillars.
Once he regains full consciousness, he looks around to see himself
stood up, but tied to a tree. He looks around to see multiple other
people tied to trees around him. He looks down at the floor to see
all his belongings thrown around. But his camera was still
recording. He tries to get the attention of the people surrounding
him, then one other person weakly lifts their head.

UNKNOWN CHARACTER 1
Help… its coming back… every 45 minutes… it comes back…
its worse every time it comes back.

Ryan starts to shake as the words sink in. He sees that the whole
front of their body is covered in blood. They then drop their head,
dying.

He the manages to set a timer on his watch from behind the tree. He
sets it for 45 minutes.

Ryan then tries to wiggle his way of out the rope but doesn’t
manage to get out. He then hears rustling around him, and he sees a
dark figure approaching. He doesn’t want that thing to know he’s
awake. Ryan drops his head just before it gets back. Ryan tries to
see what this thing is without it knowing he’s awake. As he’s about
to look up, it runs off into the woods again. Ryan takes this as
his chance to escape, but his bag is just out of reach, which has
his knife in.

He gets him self as low as he can to the floor with his restraints
to try and grab his bag with his foot so he can pull it closer to
get his knife. It takes him multiple attempts to get his bag.
Grunting after every attempt.

Ryan
Come on… Please…
He hears a quick beeping and panics. He then realises that its his
watch telling him that there’s 30 minutes left on his timer. He
then decides to kick his bag in a way to make it fall over towards
him. He then drags it behind the tree and undoes the zipper to get
to his knife. As he’s about to reach for it a scream fills the
empty forest and it scares Ryan, so much he drops his knife. He
tries to search around to find and luckily manages to brush fingers
across it. Beep, 25 minutes remaining. Ryan scrambles for his knife
and grabs it and tries to cut the rope.

Another scream fills the forest, but this time Ryan manages to keep
hold of his knife, only this time the scream was much closer. Ryans
hands start to sweat to the point where he can’t keep hold of the
knife. So, he holds it in one hand and dries the other. Beep, 15
minutes. As Ryan is cutting with his blunt knife, he hears an
almost TV static sounds coming closer, but it’s from all
directions. As Ryan hears this, he starts to cut quicker. But all
he manages to achieve is he cut his finger wide open. As he does
this, that thing comes back, 10 minutes earlier. Ryan drops his
head, hoping that whatever this thing is hadn’t noticed his finger
bleeding and the rearrangement of Ryans items.

He hears it walk around and then suddenly he hears a wet, thud as

the body of one of its earlier victims hits the floor and gets
dragged away into the woods. Ryan knows that his turn for the
monster to drag him away into the woods. After 30 minutes of
cutting Ryan manages to get free. Once he cut himself free, he goes
to check the other people tied to the trees, he doesn’t want to
stay long as he doesn’t know when it’ll be back as the persons
timing was wrong. After checking everyone he finds out they’re all
dead. He then packs his stuff into his bag and starts to run into
the woods, he hears from behind him a weak voice.

UNKNOWN CHARACTER 2
You won’t get far. It knows where you’re going. You’ll
end up back here. Everyone does… just in not in one
piece.

After hearing that, Ryan starts sprinting away, hoping to get as

far as possible from that place. As he’s running, he can’t help but
think that that thing is right on his heels, chasing after him. He
didn’t stop running until he almost got out the woods, when he
turned the corner to leave the woods, there it was, standing by the
exit. It filled the entire exit, dwarfing Ryan. He stood there
trying to comprehend its incomprehensibility, before turning and
running back into the woods. Dropping his bag to make himself
lighter so he could run faster.

Almost every turn he took it was there, either in front of him or

stood at a distance watching. Ryan finds a suitable spot that he
can rest in and hide, hoping that it won’t find him. Every noise,
every branch or leave that rustles makes Ryan turn in fear. He sits
there, in the dirt hoping it doesn’t find him.

Ryan
Please… this can’t happen… not by that thing.

After what felt like hours, Ryan finally gets up and instead of
running out, he slowly makes his way out of the woods, making sure
he doesn’t step on anything which would alert it. As he’s about to
exit the woods and be free, he hears the static again. He turns
around and sees its there again and its grabs Ryan and drags him
back to the trees. When it brings Ryan back and ties him back to
the tree. He hears a voice.

UNKNONW CHARACTER 2
Told you. It knows.

Ryan can do noting but let his head drop as he knows there’s
nothing he can do. He lost his knife whilst running. All his stuff
is gone. But his camera is still there, still recording. So, he
starts talking to the camera, not caring if it hears him.

Ryan
If anyone finds this camera, you are already dead. There
is no chance of you getting out of here. If you have come
this far, it sees you, it is watching you, and it knows
what you’re going to do. So, if you are holding this
camera… you have 45 minutes.

Ryan then stops and lets his head hang low waiting for it to come
back and finish what it started. But 45 minutes go by, and it
doesn’t come back, another 45 minutes go by and nothing. Until it’s
the next morning. A missing person report goes out for Ryan as he’s
been gone for days. The police start a massive man hunt. They have
dogs, helicopters, all searching for Ryan. Only when one of the
officers’ stumbles across the trees, they see 4 people tied to
trees, covered in blood, some blood still fresh. They then find
Ryans camera, but Ryan is no longer there. The rope Ryan was tied
to the tree with hasn’t been messed with. No signs of people
leaving the trees. Ryan has simply disappeared.

The incident goes on the news across the country.

NEWS REPORTER
5 bodies have been found tied to trees in the woods.
There are no signs of weapons that could have been used.
There is still one man missing from this scene.

The search radius for Ryan was increased for miles, the search went
on for months, yet Ryan never was found. They closed the search as
it was coming up on 5 months of searching for him. Until 6 months
after the search was closed, a woman walking her dog came across
Ryans pocketknife and finger She call the police to tell them she
had found a disembodied finger in the woods. They did a blood test
on the finger and confirmed it was Ryans. That’s all they could
find of Ryan as they labelled him dead. It was also never seen
again.
