Installing the Modification
Installing the Direct-Connect Hardware
Important • Because this modification is selective, it is not required. • Newer KODAK DIRECTVIEW CLASSIC/ELITE CR Systems that already have the required direct-connect hardware installed will be marked as having Modification No. 17 installed.
Note The recommended method for connecting these CR Systems is to have a separate customer network connection for the scanner and the computer. However, removing the scanner from the network, as outlined in this procedure, may help minimize problems with the customer network if there are performance issues with the customer network or if an extra IP address is not available. [1] Does your CLASSIC/ELITE CR System already have Modification No. 17 installed? Yes No Advance to Configuring the Direct-Connect Continue with Step 2. Software on Page 4.

[11] Install the left side panel.
Configuring the Direct-Connect Software
Important • Perform this software configuration on the CLASSIC/ELITE CR Systems to enable the scanner and computer to communicate with each other. • If IP addresses other than those used in this procedure are required, change the IP settings and the computer scanner NIC settings. • Customers that use the 192.168.0 subnet for their network may require settings other than those identified in this procedure. For assistance in changing the settings, contact the Carestream Health Technical Support Center (TSC).
Caution Dangerous Voltage
[1] De-energize the computer.
Important • Do not plug the network into the customer network drop from the back of the Local User Interface (LUI). • You must plug the scanner network cable into the unused extra NIC connector (covered with white tape) on the back of the computer.
