Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners; We are all familiar with our parish deacons, Deacons Victor Samano and Ron Tiberi. Deacon Victor and his wife Marta have been serving the community at San Felipe de Jesus for many years while Deacon Ron and his wife Debbie have been serving at St. Edwards for the past couple of years. Their willingness to serve has been a gift to our community and a witness to the Gospel. What you may not be aware of are two more men who are in the process of discernment and study for the diaconate. Al Scaduto and his wife Linda have been in the diaconate program for the past two years. It is an intense time of study and spiritual discernment in which they join with others throughout our Diocese. Al is about to take a formal step in this journey on October 21 as he will enter the stage of Candidacy. This basically means that he is serious about becoming a Deacon and the Church is serious about him as well. One might say that he is becoming engaged. Please pray for his continued quest in the diaconate! The second parishioner who is beginning this long process for the diaconate is Mike Stock. He and his wife Rosie have been active for years in church ministry, especially Marriage Encounter. Their daughter, Marissa, was our parish Youth Minister for a couple of years before she fell in love, got married and moved to Los Angeles. Mike has been accepted to proceed in the Inquiry stage of the Diaconate process and in four years may be ordained a deacon. Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers. They are a part of what makes our parish community a place of powerful worship and grace. And.so are you! Together in Christ;

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY OCTOBER 23, 2011 Do you know the date of your Baptism? Well, on that day, you became a missionary, called by our Lord to share your faith with those around you and to be part of the Churchs mission to the world. Jesus Himself directed His followers to go into the whole world and proclaim His Gospel the Good News of His love for us to all peoples (see Mark 16:15). That mission is now directed to each one of us. On World Mission Sunday, October 23, we have the opportunity to be part of the Churchs missionary work in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands through our prayers and support offered to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

ROSA CEJA an educator and Program Director of the Capistrano Community Mariachi Program . JAY WILSON a retired businessman who managed large department stores . GREG WISE the owner of a small business and an engaged parish volunteer This series features speakers from the parish who will share real life stories about how their faith plays an important role in their professional life. Hearing these different stories may increase connections amongst us that will bring us closer together increasing our sense of parish community. Come and hear the good news! If you have any comments or questions feel free to contact. Dennis and Jane Galligani @276-7382 CALLING ENCOUNTERED COUPLES AND PRIESTS! Come and reconnect to the joy of your Weekend as we celebrate 40 years of Marriage Encounter on the West Coast. Whether your Weekend was last month or forty years ago, we invite you to make an Anniversary Marriage Encounter Weekend. We have set aside spaces on our December Weekend, December 2-4, 2011, especially for couples and priests who have already been encountered. In addition, encountered couples will receive 50% off the application fee! Visit our website at: http://www.angelfire.com/me2/ wwmeorange for details or contact John & Catherine Arthur at [email protected]. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ FOR YOUR INFORMATION Periodically, and more so of late, we have had gypsies, usually a mother with a small child, seeking money from our parishioners after the weekend Masses. While we have given them food from our Christian Service Outreach (to which they are indifferent), what they want are monetary donations. It is a racket and they prey on parishioners good will. They have been circulating among parishes and other establishments seeking money. We ask that you do not respond to their solicitation for money so as not to encourage their return. It is important to say that we are not turning our backs to the poor; rather we do not wish to condone or encourage their manipulative and sometimes aggressive behavior which is a racket for collecting money. PRAYER FOR OUR U.S. MILITARY Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. We pray for all those serving in the U.S. Military especially: Cpl. Zac Garcia, USMC; Capt. Nicholas Schmitz, USMC; Lt Com. Kirt Wlaschin, U.S. Navy; SPC Jeremy Benson, U.S. Army; Seaman First Class Landon York, U.S. Navy Jeremy La Rue L.Cpl. Joshua Berryhill, USMC Cpl. DOCUMENTARY FILM BLOODMONEY BloodMoney is a documentary film that exposes the truth behind the evil of abortion. Find out the history of abortion in America, from the inception of Planned Parenthood to the profitability of abortion clinics. Examine Roe v. Wade, the denial of when life begins, the fight to save the lives of innocent babies, and the devastating effects abortion has had on the women who have had them. BloodMoney details a sad chapter in American history that has sanctioned the slaughter of millions of innocent lives. THERE ARE NO GRAPHIC PICTURES IN THIS FILM.

God, there is so much injustice and suffering crying out for our attention: victims of hunger, of racism, and of political persecution. May my life no longer be mine alone; may I use my freedom to pursue the freedom of others.
