Teachers Conducting Research
II. Research Problem (Identify the Issue or Concern):
To determine the teacher’s lived experiences in conducting research.
III. Working Title:
Research is Life: The Lived Experiences of Teachers in Conducting
Research in San Pedro Apartado National High School
IV. Background of the Problem:
Research is a systematic inquiry process that includes data collection,
documentation of critical information, and analysis and interpretation of that
data/information in accordance with appropriate methodologies established by
specific professional and academic disciplines.
Nagibova (2019) conducted a study in Kazakhstan revealed that teachers are
lack of action research knowledge and do not have enough resources and support as
part of the challenges that teachers face when conducting research.
The Revised Guidelines for the Basic Education Research Fund, also known as
DepEd Order Number 43 series of 2015, are a series of orders issued by the
Department of Education (BERF). To promote a research culture, eligible proposers
must use the research fund for research projects centered on the following themes:
(a) improving access to education, (b) improving educational quality, and (c)
improving governance. Recognizing the importance of research in improving the
delivery of basic education services, the DepEd established the Basic Education
Research Fund to provide research funding.
DepEd Order Number 39 Series of 2016, also known as the Adoption of Basic
Education Research Agenda, was issued in 2016. The research agenda will build on
existing research gains, generate new knowledge in priority research areas, direct
DepEd's attention to relevant education issues, and maximize available resources for
research both within and outside the Department.
V. Rationale:
The researchers' goal in conducting this study is to determine the teacher's
lived experiences in conducting research. The study attempted to capture the
experiences of the study's subjects to be interviewed during their research study by
describing them in their own language and voice.. The findings of this study
provided insights into teachers' lived experiences, which was used to frame
recommendations for the school administration in crafting training programs and
services to improve the support systems and to guide teachers in overcoming
challenges in conducting research paper to produce, present, and publish a research
paper that will improve the teaching and learning practices.
VI. Statement of the Problem:
This qualitative study aimed to examine the lived experiences of the teachers
in conducting research.
Specifically, it will seek to answer the following questions;
1. What are the lived experiences of the senior high school teachers in
conducting research?
2. What are the challenges faced by the participants in conducting research?
VII. Significance of the Study:
To the Teachers – this study will provide insights into teachers’ lived experiences in
conducting research. This will be used to frame recommendations as basis in
creating training programs and services in the school that will improve the support
systems and structures to guide the teachers in overcoming challenges in conducting
research in order to come up with a research paper.
To the School Administrators – this will serve as reference to exemplify their
leadership and managerial skills in planning and creating training programs related
to research and share positive experiences to let them know the importance of
conducting research.
