Teenagers then and now

Karen Johnson is a bank manager. She’s 43, she’s
married, she has a daughter and a son, and she lives in
a small town in the south of Scotland. But 25 years
ago, she was an 18-year-old teenager. It was the

‘I hated being a teenager,’ says Karen. ‘Now, I look
